My husband, who has thousands of RL dollars invested in SL, forgot his codeword and is now locked out with seemingly no help from LL to assist him.

the support line doesnt even give you a choice to talk to a person just a recording that says there has been a security incident you must change your pass word at https://secondlife.com/password you can not change your password over the phone, goodbye |

He has a small fortune invested in SL and can't even get assistance. I'm sure many are in the same situation right now |

I'm sure there are, too.
And this time, if LL doesn't get its act together, it really does stand to lose big. This is way, way more serious than just obnoxious policies. I don't know ... I'm the last person to cry "lawsuit," but if they screw SL business owners out of their assets with no recourse, I wouldn't be too surprised to see it actually happen this time. _____________________

We. Get. Fucked.
I've spent over a hundred dollars on the game. I have a premium account. But I can't log in and apparently they're not answering emails. |

That's it. Too many complaints. Too much negativity. Close the forums.

This does suck because I never answer the
What was your mother maiden name or your street address with the correct answer because anyone that knows me could guess that and change my password. Actually, it's happened before with email! |

in another post they said if you forgot your question they will not be able to assist in validating the account till possibly monday
im sure they are all frantically struggling to deal with this and the ammount of emails they are receiving with the same and similar issues 1. that is the reason you should chose a question you can remember the answer to 2. i know we are all upset and frustrated but take a deep breath and it will all get worked out 3. yes im invested in my sl life also so i understand..i was completely freaked when i couldnt log into the website this morning at the same time they were posting the urgent message i thought something had gone wrong on my end |

I hope they kept a backup of all the passwords cuz we need to demand ours back if we have no way to change them (some people dont know their email addresses or used fake ones).

Fuckity fucked fucked Well, multiply that by 4 for me, since I liked SL so much when I started THAT I CONVINCED MY WHOLE FUCKING FAMILY AND A HOUSEMATE TO SIGN UP!!! I am the only one who remembers the goddamned secret phrase answer, so I am the only one who can sign in. That's "fuckity fucked fucked fuckity fucked fucked fuckity fucked fucked fuckity fucked fucked" for us ![]() And since all but 1 of those are fucking paid premium accounts, and we spend lots and lots (hundreds of USD so far) on this game, we are all pretty pissed! |

Linden Lab i know you are looking out for the protection of all accounts, but some of us would have liked to worry about it ourselves and take the heat. A simple warning would have suficed. Please re enabled everyones account who has not changed it already if you can. Or atleast modify the password retrieval page so it doesnt need to email us. All we really need is the secret word, and if we dont know that then we really need our passwords re instated as was.

The only good side of this is that some of the griefers may have forgotten their info.

My husband, who has thousands of RL dollars invested in SL, forgot his codeword and is now locked out with seemingly no help from LL to assist him. What do you mean by codeword? Are you referring to the password hint, like "Mother's Maiden name" or "pet's name"? Tell him to sit down, close his eyes, relax, and breathe slowly. As long as he's stressing it won't come back to him. The routine does ask you the right question, so when it asked me my Mom's maiden name I didn't have to sweat the answer. Tell him I said if he doesn't remember it, I'm taking all his stuff ![]() _____________________

OK, I'm fully prepared for the hurling of projectiles, but I don't understand why you guys picked a throwaway word for the security question?
My question was pet's name. I didn't answer with my pet's name, but with something that reminded me of him. I didn't give away any secret that could allow access to my account, but I could remember it, too. You also need that answer when you're on the phone with LL and they need to access your account. So... why did you just go with a random word? _____________________

Second Life passwords can not be changed over the phone at this time. Phone support for password issues will be available Monday, September 11. For the most up-to-date information, please check the Official Linden Blog at blog.secondlife.com Customer Service should be their top priority in a situation like this...not telling people they have to wait till AFTER the weekend when its still Friday morning. THIS is the worst example of CS I have ever seen by SL. Very disappointing. Somebody is making very poor business decisions. Either the team needs some jarring and shaking or they need to be removed. There is too much at stake right now for everyone involved. Xplorer |

I'm surprised that they're even doing anything Monday. _____________________

Or here's an alternate scenario, which I am currently experiencing..my alt account, also an older avatar, cannot access because no e-mail comes to me. It is possible I used an old and now gone email account, or who knows? In any case, I wish that this all could have been done from the website instead of through email, was there no way to do that? I have no idea how I will access it otherwise. I cringe to think of trying to get through on the phone lines that day.

The only good side of this is that some of the griefers may have forgotten their info. Just means that the griefers will create a new account so we can all complain that we have to create a whole new list of ban names, and run outta space and then complain again demaning a bigger ban list one more time. ![]() In the mean time, hoepfully the grid won't be so busy tonight with all the people that didn't have the forethought to pick proper answers to the security question. ![]() |

The only good side of this is that some of the griefers may have forgotten their info. And those who did not provide real email addresses are hopelessly locked out. SL may be a little quieter for a bit.... |

Why not?
Why don't you just man the phones for the weekend? I think this is an emergency situation. I appreciate that you all put the kibosh on any evildoer's plan this way, by preventing ANYBODY from getting ripped off. But it is an emergency situation; not something to go home for the weekend for. Unless there is some technical reason why you can't help people with their passwords starting now. I have work to do on the game, and customers. (So do you!) I can remember what the answer to my security question was. I just don't know how the Linden spelled it when he put it in to change it for me! hehe coco _____________________
