After much work and effort, The Unofficial Complete Fool's Guide to SecondLife is ready for everyone to enjoy!

Well, some of you know that I had been working on a project for several months now, and have been wondering when I would display it.

You can download all 7 megs of it's 70+ page glory at SLDrama.com, either in the download section, or right from the front page. Get your copy and tell me what you think of it!

It's a PDF guidebook about the basics of how SecondLife works.

I hope you enjoy this guide, both for it's usefulness to new users, and for it's amusement value to the old hands of SecondLife. It covers the basics of SL in a humor-filled and educational romp through an avatar's first login!

This comes to you free from he residents of Second Life and Foolish Frost. Please enjoy it, and tell your friends where they can get it!

I hope to see you there!

I was more than a little surprised to discover that Colonel Sanders is alive and in SL, but his new book is every bit as genius as the chicken restaurant idea. Every newbie should own a copy. 5/5

I'm not even finished with it but I give it 5/5 stars with only one caveat which is if a newbie forgets that Avatar's story is a sort of roleplaying experience.

A must-read for newbies.

Looks great! Very cool to see the Avatar story again, with so many pictures. Very well explained, should be highly useful. I just want to mention (I hate to nitpick) that page 5 has a line that says 'You will also see the here. Read it.' Unless I'm displaying it wrong, it looks like 'TOS' or something similar was deleted from that line. (Sorry, I used to do proofreading, I can't help finding these things.) :)

Thank you! Already mentioned, and the new version is uploading as we type. Will just switch over when done, and everyone will be on their merry way!

Went through 10 editors, and nobody noticed. You are all so FIRED.

Really.. it's amazing how few people know about NCI.. or New Citizen's Inc.. we have a huge freebie area, tons of notecards and other helpful things for Newbies.. we have three classrooms and a huge schedule of classes. Really.. come check it out.. just search for NCI.. should be the third or fourth one down, depending on traffic that day.. New Citizens Inc

Ah well. that's a bit late for me, I'm afraid. These old bones haves to get SOME sleep you know, and that's about 3 am my time...

And oddly enough, it's been downloaded 73 time so far since it's release today. Glad it's entertaining enough to get that many downloads before news of it even has a chance to spread inworld!

Later!

Woot!

100 downloads in less than 24 hours. This free stuff goes fast...

Let me see, that would be about 700 megs of bandwidth in a day. And the site's still up! Guess my providor can handle the stress afterall.

Unless it gets on slashdot, and then I'm seriously doomed. :D

Anyway! Just a couple of things to mention. Near the kiosks for SLDrama.com in Ravenglass and Oakland are tables with a copy of hte book on it. You can click on them to get a link to download the PDF book from the website.

A final thing, if you want to link to the book, link to:

http://www.sldrama.com/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item7

because if you link direct to the download and it changes, it can cause problems.

And yes, you can share the book and such as you like, just make sure the copy on my site has not been updated first. You might be giving a copy that's obsolete, and that kind of defeats the usefulness of giving it to them.

Anyway, I'm OFF! (or at least that's what my shrink tells me...)

1.5 of those downloads were mine! Got stuck at 450k the first time. I have not gone over it word for word yet, but it looks great. Lots of useful info, and I like the way it is presented as more of an adventure than instructions.

I try. Thanks for the good word. Boring people should NEVER be the way used to teach them something...

As to 450k, would that not be... About 6% of a download? So it would be 1.06 downloads...

I so wish I had this back when I started. I can relate to the panic during that first login. :D
Note: On page 13 (inventory), the "Library" is now at the bottom.
Back to reading. Thanks for doing this, Foolish!

Impressive. I am sending it to all the noobs on my team at my university. We have a lot of new users and my time is limited. This should help.

Thanks :-)
