Since the forums might be closing soon I just had to quench my curiousity. Ever since I heard of Prokofy Neva's infamous Feted Inner Core, the Linden favoured group of individuals who were supposed to influence and control the future direction Second Life, I've wondered who were supposed to belong in that certain category.
Any ideas or suggestions?

The FIC was a term coined by Prok to describe a Mythical group of people who seem to have All the advantages, and None of the Drawbacks of Life in SL. Sort of the On Line version of the Freemasons or other Secret societies.
Mostly it was an expression of some peoples Paranoid belief that there is something going on around them and they are, for some sinister purpose, being kept out of the Loop. You will see some people about with an FIC group in their Profile. That started when some people who enjoyed tormenting Prok in the Forums Decided to Make the group for a Laugh. But, some people are comfortable thinking that there is some Grand conspiracy watching their every move and profiting from their every misfortune. It's Easier to get their head around than "Sh*t Happens", so it's grown into a Forums Tradition. Frankly, it makes me Laugh. I did have one incident with something to do with the FIC. I was wandering around Caledonia, and walked up to two people who where talking there, and I noticed something small on the ground. Zooming in to look at it, it was a FIC id card. Just after I zoomed in to look at it, it was taken away. The folks standing there refused to talk about it. Generating a buzz I guess. |

Yes, Virginia, there is a FIC. They exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your Second Life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no FIC!

No one outside the FIC knows who the FIC are..... but, like the members of an exclusive country club in a wealthy community, the FIC "know" who they are and always recognize fellow members. Bottom line, this nebulous group of the rich and powerful 'belong' and travel in the upper strata of the SL society on their invisible islands and at very private social events.
They are omnipresent and just "ARE"... Many of whom have contributed greatly to SL content, the economy and the community. All very similar to RL. |
