The last thing we need are more people right now. The grid can't handle the people we have.
Does LL issue 1099s for things other than affiliate pay outs? I don't remember seeing anything on the Lindex about 1099. |

Wow, what a wonderful segment they did too ... it was very exciting. I met one new person tonight in the Wecome Area who had come after seeing that on Fox News. I suspect many more tried and failed due to the upgrade tonight. Still, very positive coverage. I love it.

not a bad piece..
10-25-2005 00:16
it made it's point succintly, teased enough to bring a few new faces around and didn't get hokey about it.. thank goodness.
although, it would be nice for them to do a "Part 2" on the story and go a little more in-depth. explain the building a little more and maybe mention scripting? perhaps divulge that there are many different tiers of payment for land "allowance". but i digress.. it was a groovy spot and looked upon us well. but again, it would've been much better if aired a couple days from now.. but hey, maybe it serves the purpose of sifting out some who wouldn't care for SL anyway? _____________________

That Fox News thing must be the first SWF file I've been unable to copy and save using Firefox. Rupert Murdoch's programmers really know how to bury URLs with Javascript.

Nice. Best TV news coverage I've seen yet. I say this despite the fact I hate Fox News.

One person is, Martin. Verified, at least. Think "Everybody Wang Chung tonight", but with less wang. ... Come to think of it, SL could use less wang. I only know of one person making six figures a year in SL, and its not Anshe. I have never heard Anshe verify what income she clears from Second Life. The link no longer has the SL video - anyone have a direct link to it, or save the video file? Its a shame Faux News didn't take a look at the SL Herald web site... "Always Fairly Unbalanced." If I did everything correctly, you should be able to watch the video of SL as it appeared on Fox News by clicking the link below: Okay I didnt do that right LOL Anyway here is where you can go to watch it. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,173283,00.html Look on the right hand side says FREE VIDEO - And should look like this: [left] ![]() Second Life ![]() Web site creates new world for users I went to the DEVIL republican site via the link you gave and found this article: Yahoo Raising Music Subscription Costs Monday, October 24, 2005 By Matt Hines ![]() STORIES • MP3 Downloads Per Player Drop Sharply • Bertelsmann Launching File-Sharing Service • Microsoft Backs Down on Exclusive Music Deals writeScroll(openTab2,'2'); Portal company Yahoo Inc. informed customers of its subscription music download service that it will increase pricing for users who transfer their tunes onto portable devices or CDs. The Sunnyvale, Calif., firm forwarded an e-mail to its Yahoo Music Unlimited subscribers late Thursday I tried searching the DEVIL republican site for "second life" and found nothing. _____________________

'Virtual livers?'
And what was that about us possibly getting 'virtual telemarketing calls'? Didn't like the sound of that one bit. _____________________

The link is there on the right... I just watched it (6:12am SLT)
The talking head mentions 'virtual telemarketing calls'... frickin' wonderful. There's a good use for that lovely key2name database (told you so). ![]() -Ghoti _____________________

I tried searching the DEVIL republican site for "second life" and found nothing. I found the video this way: Follow ReallyRick's original link to Fox News. Select "Video" from the menu at the top of the Fox webpage. When the popup window appears, select "Only On Fox" from the left-hand margin. The SL video is (at least this morning) one of the 9 video selections. As for the content of the video, /me shrugs. I have as much expectation of receiving virtual telemarketing calls as I have for someone interacting with my virtual liver. I never attach much credence to what Fox News has to say about life --real, second, or otherwise. |

Will all this press coverage ever make the IRS take notice? If people cash out on the Lindex it will be so much easier to trach who is making what, and with a quick supeona to LL, to aquire all the info. Bam! Eboni, good point but anyone smart enough making anything above part time wage most likely is reporting it. I know I feed the income through another RL business I have on the side. Infact, with the money I spend on SL and the fact that even part of my other cost such as ISP fees, a website and a few other minor expenses are considered now write offs, my accountant somehow turns it into a tax break for me. _____________________

On Bill Maher's show this past weekend, they showed 5 minutes of Faux News clips and all it was was 5 second clips where they kept saying, "What I don't like about this is that the attacks on the Repulican leaders are merely the criminalization of politics...". It was pretty hilarious to see that "news" channels slant so blatantly exposed.
The SL clip might have been the only few minutes in the past month where they didn't say "the criminalization of politics" at least once, but I didn't see the clip... was Ulrika interviewed? If so, maybe they did say it! ![]() Regards, -Flip _____________________
