Which do you prefer and why?

Sadly, *I* actually prefer PG, I hate going to places, like for example... Asri and I went to Slingo and Pizza events this morning, and all there was, was a bunch of stupid sound files cussing, and the host and everyone else saying F---- This, and Suck my D---- etc etc. I like to be able to be in world and not be ashamed or embarrassed if a family member or friend walk by or look over my shoulder.. PG seems to be where the MATURE adults are =/

I like the Mature, but I don't get around much of what you are describing. Would certainly get annoying.

I voted for PG as well, my mainland land is PG and my island is Mature, but I can change that when I wish. As I have often said, PG land should change to label (Mature) and existing Mature land should be labeled (Immature)

I voted other for both.

I like the freedom of mature land. Mature land is freedom to be naked, not worry about rezzing a nudie pic, etc..

I don't spend much time on PG land (that I'm aware of, I don't pay all that much attention). But, I do support people's desire to be away from sex, foul language, and such.

..as we AL should be grown ups (?)... and as SL are not for children.. and we are produced the same way... with a mother and father..

No I cant see why we need places where we only are allowed to knit or sit in front of a TV at each side of a table..

/Tina - no we dont go around naked or have sex 24/7 - or are al blond or have iceberas at the street..

Other.

No need to vote here, our pocket books already do that, land is cheaper in PG sims becasue fewer people want to live there.

SL has taught me alot about tolerance, including tolerating people who prefer PG sims. There should be places they can go/live and be comfortable.

PG sims, an nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.

The sim I live on is mature because it is designed to be able to rent for weddings and honeymoons. But there I have control over the kinds of people who hang out. If I think someone is being offensive I can boot em.

With shopping I don't care, but I tend to avoid most other mature sims when I'm looking for games or to hang out. I hate it when I'm trying to enjoy myself and there are people being vulgar and crass. I'm not a prude, believe me I can swear like the best of them but there is a limit. When the word F***k is coming out of your mouth in every other sentence thats not "mature" or "adult" it's childish and tacky. People make themselves sound like morons and it becomes really irritating to everyone else, to the point that there are several popular places (I won't name) I simply refuse to step foot in anymore.

And actually I've run into the same problem in a couple of PG places. It's not whether a place is PG or mature, it's the kind of people who frequent the place.

I pretty much never leave the mature areas unless I port to a shopping area that happens to be in a PG sim. I respect other people's right to be PG -- I just don't tend to hang out in those areas.

A PG rating doesn't actually prevent immaturity, it merely punishes it when it takes certain forms. It does so at the cost of a certain amount of your freedom, so I tend to take the stance of "glad that you have the option, but I find it more constraining than useful, personally."

I live in Caledon, which is Mature but also has the rule "proper decency and class are required in public areas". Best of both worlds, pretty much.

Obviously that wouldn't work so well on the mainland.

Hum, I've honestly never seen people behaving that way in a mature area... but I've never been to a 'Slingo and Pizza' event either. Maybe such gatherings bring out the worst in people?

All my friends and favorite shops are in mature sims, as are most of the places I tend to hang out, 'adult' or otherwise.

Actually the word F**k does not F**king bother me in the least. I think its a total loafd of f**king cr*p that people would suggest that cursing is tied to intelligence. It is an obnoxiously pretensious and aroggant assertion, usually made by people who need some sort of self justification for thier goody-goody behavior. Just recall your pedantic preaching is as offensive to some of us as our saying f**K is to you. The answer is deal with it and move on.

When I first started reading this I thought you were joking..... by the end I realized you weren't. Were you? Because it pretty much makes my point.

Like I said, I'm no prude... I just think there is a time and place and a limit. And no cursing isn't tied to intelligence, but it is tied to class and while it may not show a lack of intelligence, it does show a clear lack of manners and ability to communicate intelligently.

Hmm. That word is one of my favorites in the English language. It carries a weight and semantic flexibility unmatched by any other term I can think of at the moment. Its power gets diluted with overuse, though, and I prefer to reserve it for times when the passion or outrage demand it. I don't believe the original poster was making a personal judgement against folks who uttered certain phrases... just expressing a preference for when and how she chooses to hear them?

PG. Though I'd have put both/other now that I think about it.

As long as there's enough PG to go around.

I went with Don't Care, because something being in PG or Mature doesn't make a whole lot of difference to me. I don't really notice people acting differently depending on the rating of the sim they're in, only that some actions in PG sims are more likely to get reported.

When it comes to buying land, I choose Mature, but not because I feel the need to shout curse words at the top of my lungs, or do anything that would even offend most. (Except for those who look for things to be offended by.) Rather, I buy in Mature sims, because I have a low tolerance for net-nannies and people who wish to force their morality on others. In a Mature sim, on my own land, I can tell them to bugger off, and show them what it means if they still don't get it.

I've mostly been in PG sims. Despite the perceptions here, I've never had any kind of problem with "prudeishness" - I pretty much act the same as I would anywhere else, and I don't have to worry so much about an escort club moving in next door.

That said, I find the modified PG/Mature split LL uses to be less than useful, and like Dyne's land in Caledon, I prefer the much simpler guideline of "don't be a jerk." Running around naked? No problem! ... but the entire damned world does NOT need to hear your nipple attachments talk about how excited they are. Nor do I need to hear your collection of "clever" sound clips... although, since I like to play random sounds myself, I'm more forgiving... but you don't need to spam with every single one you have, or play a random annoying and/or offensive song just 'cause you can.

My remedy is generally to set these people on fire, but I am a brash and foolhardy person.

Sorry you took this so personal , I am hardly a saint or prude... and I say F--- and other curse words just like everyone else, but i believe there is a time and a place for it... I wouldn't go to a Bingo hall irl and shout out Fuck you, Go to hell, suck my dick etc etc, would you?

I can't remember the last time I went to a gaming event, and when I did the other day, it was a nightmare... I felt like I was surrounded by 13 yr olds with no adult in sight and think its cool to act like idiots...

I really don't see much of a difference between the two these days. I used to always prefer Mature, in case I felt like frolicing naked in the woodlands, but these days I don't do alot of nakedness and if I did, I could probably do it in a PG sim just as easily as long as I was discreet.

I didn't vote because I don't see the point of the poll, but if I catch anyone frolicking naked in Numbakulla, I will nail their nuts to the tree house deck as an example to all.
No frolicking in Numba...OK?

Nemesis is mature, but the punishment is the same...but there it is more fun :-).
