On a completely unrelated note from the OP, does LL still allow amnesty for teens on the main grid? ;)

If your friend is not 18 yet, and you are over 18, you are going to have a problem, since SL is only for adults.

If your friend IS over 18, have them go to the correct signup page on www.secondlife.com

As a side note, if you are BOTH under 18, you should both be on the teen grid. :D

So say I am 18 and its telling me I can only log on during happy hours (12:00-22:00 PT). Apparently this is because I'm on the teen grid. I'm over 18 and registered with my own credit card. So how do I fix this damn thing? When I did play there was only a small area and there were a lot of people behaving like they do on Habbo Hotel (http://www.habbobotel.com.au/) so I'm guessing I was on the teen grid.
Anyone know how to fix it? Is there an option to go on the teen grid when you're an adult? I can't find anything to that effect. My girlfriend was playing on this machine today (I posted something related in another thread in tech support, but the roles were reversed, long story) and she's only 17 and 10 months, could that have caused it somehow?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Nebby

Nebby, nice forum av—I like teh Monkey Island. Hehehe. I remember in that game when it sez to look for a 3-headed monkey, and it's TRUE!

One thing I'm confuzzled 'bout tho... you said you're over 18 here, but in another thread, you say you're not?

Ahh! I see. Well I'm not quite 18 so maybe there is a mandatory thing happening there. I don't remember electing to have a teen grid account. We'll see.
I'll complain about it either way. :)

Thanks very much for your help.

Was it your birthday recently? :)

contrast with

Okay, here's a tricky one.
My girlfriends account is unrestricted because she's over 18 (or it might be the other way around) and I was using my account within their hours today on her PC. And now she has the restrictions on her account even though she's over 18 and wasn't restricted last night.
Can anyone explain that? It's the same error. If she's set somehow to log in on the teen grid, how is that changed when you're over 18?

Thanks again for the help,
Nebby

someone is a fibber

this is why we are thankful for the teen grid :D

EDIT: a little birdy told me that "happy hours" for TG wouldn't be forever. take that how you will

As I said in my first post here, its the other way around to what I said in the other thread. I said it the other way around in that thread because I posted there first on behalf of my girlfriend - for the sake of simplicity. I'm over 18 (by almost 4 months) and she's under 18 (by just over 2 months). A most inconvenient situation when we're trying to both use a service that is so very nazi (oops, naughty word) about age restrictions. We both used our own credit cards to register. I can appreciate what they're trying to do, but its a fine line between trying to protect the innocence of young users and causing massive inconvenience to a large number of adult users, especially when these measures aren't going to stop that many minors. I don't blame the young people for trying to get in, what I saw of the teen grid was pretty mediocre. As well as that, my experience on Habbo Hotel taught me that teens often have the filthiest minds that are the most obsessed with cybering each other. For that reason primarily I really don't want the teens in the adult grid any more than anyone else. I think its good to keep them out. But I think they're overdoing it. ^^' Also it's just an ass of a situation for my girlfriend and I.

One thing is for sure, I'll be damned if I'm paying for an international call to California in order to get my account (IP) fixed.

I explained the contradiction in several places. Sorry for anyone who was confused by it.
My DOB is in my profile (I think), but believe what you will. I'm posting on the adult forum apparently that verifies that I'm a registered adult. Also you can look for me on the adult grid if I ever get this business sorted out.

I take strong objection to being accused of lying, but then, I did, so there' not much I can say. :D

I'm 18, anyway. Born 19/08/87. Believe it or not. :P

Most inconvenient. You will learn patience in time =) the problem is now you have said you were over and under 18 in seperate threads. therefore, my guess is LL will now require proof of age no matter where you end up, before you get to log in again.

I used to play in a band (and drink) in nightclubs and gamble (and drink) in Vegas when I was 17 (both required to be 21), so I am certainly not the right person to preach, but:

oh what a tangled web we weave...

Yeah, I am regretting swiching it 'round in my first post. ^^'
In my defense it was 2am and I couldn't be bothered explaining it the right way around.

I've emailed them, posted in a few places, including the hotline...
I'm just hoping they don't require me to call, given that I'm in this situation as a result of an overzealous age restriction policy that I wasn't given fair warning about.

I did look through the ToS, but I was more concerned with paragraphs like the following (off-topic):
From: someone
In addition, if Linden Lab should ever file for bankruptcy or merge with another company,we may sell the information you provide to us on this site to a third party or share your personal information with any company with whom we merge.

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. If the reactions of the people I asked about this are anything to go by, its another reason the TS ranks aren't swelling as fast as they'd hoped.
All but one of the people I talked to told me to stay away from it. ^^'

Do I still need to get Skype-out to make those calls?
I have Skype, but with the free account I use I can only call Skype users as far as I know...
