If I understand it, ( which is quite rare ), Oz found a script he created, which he didn't create. Someone else created it by copying a script created by another someone else ...

O.k. I have one of these someone gave me a long long time ago to do some alterations on.. It's a funny little thing if you look at all the creators..

It's a torus with a flame and a sphere around it..

The Torus's creator is Jopsy Pendragon. It's named "Sami Tabla Hack". It has a lamp light script in it with the creator.. Oz Spade.. Aquired date March 11, 2004.

The sphere's creator is also Jopsy Pendragon with the glow nimbus script inside made by Oz Spade.. Aquired date March 18, 2004.

So I think Jopsy must have got ahold of one of your scripts way back when, probably before he was uber wiz particle man.

The "Glow Nimbus off at night" was an alteration I did on it for a friend, who knows how far that thing has wandered by now.

About being the creator of vendors: It's a bit crazy, I logged in one day to have a guy really pissed at me because some of my textures weren't copy. I don't sell textures.. He goes on to tell me how horrible I am to advertise them as such and only a few were copy. Then he starts saying some of the textures he made for SIMS on-line and how I ripped him off and what a nasty person I am. I log in and am like whoa whoa hold up there.. I don't even sell textures.. Please check the owner, not the creator.

I get lots of people trying to sweet talk me into making stuff Modify for them because of one reason or another, 90% of the time it's not something I've made.

Since the creator of an object is the creator of the root prim, there's a lot of planes around the grid with Cubey listed as the creator that are DEFINITELY not Cubey's designs.

I use the BSD license on my open source scripts, so having the creator stick around is what I want. Perhaps folks who don't want to be treated as tech support for modified versions of their freely redistributable scripts should include a comment like "if you use this script in a product, please copy the text to a new script so you're the one who gets contacted for tech support"?

I've handed out a lot of objects that used versions of Ama Omega's particle scripts as the base. Perhaps I should redo them from the start in the future?

Zalandria, wow thats alot older than I thought. I guess I'll shoot an IM over to Jopsy and see if thats what happened. Jopsy is such a better particle person than me anymore. If thats what happened it would make more sense.

Argent, thats a good idea. Usualy I copy and paste Ama's script from the one in my inventory to the script window I make myself, that helps to not run into those problems too. But adding in some commentary on the licsensing or support would be a good idea... if people would actualy read them, I know of some people that do that and yet people ignore it completely.

Those squeaking things are cute! I've seen some benign ones that still look cute and squeak. I also think the Eric Linden Bridge is interesting (http://history.secondserver.net/index.php/The_Eric_Linden_Bridge) a bridge that he had nothing to do with yet bares his name. Lot of bad permission stuff like this.

Oz, I'm pretty sure this comes from one of the basic Particles2 scripts you were handing out way back with the llParticleSystem() function was written. I have some of these scripts in my inventory created you and have used them liberally here & there in many of my objects that use particles.

What's the oldest scripted object in your library?

I do that, but not deliberately or consistently... it's just because I sometimes write the script with "particles()" as a dummy first.

I haven't forgotten about this, I just haven't had the time to chase after it anymore, been busy with lots of other projects. So my apologies to anyone who is waiting for me to get back to them on this. As soon as I get some more time I'll be back on the case!

I have a copy of this script too (with full perms), and have modded it heavily. The code comments inside say "// No Frills Particle Script & customizations- by Jopsy Pendragon", but the properties say you are the originator.

I got my copy from Luna Bliss.
