I don't mind the 3 minutes wait for a new client, I do mind the 5-6 hours grid downtime (and the day after it takes for things to stabilize). I wish they would push more in the direction of rolling updates

From: Candide LeMay I don't mind the 3 minutes wait for a new client, I do mind the 5-6 hours grid downtime (and the day after it takes for things to stabilize). I wish they would push more in the direction of rolling updates They do rolling updates already for minor server patches which usually don't require new clients. However, when it's a major update that does require a new client like this latest one, they can't simply do a rolling update since every server needs a fresh install (for all intents and purposes). They also have to ensure stability before having the additional load of us all being logged in.

Updates mean things are getting done, –problems fixed and issues resolved. The only time that I would consider there being too many updates is when it significantly interferes with gameplay, and so far, the number of updates haven't come close. Downloading a twenty megabyte file twice or less on most weeks is no real problem.

And the 6 hours of downtime ALWAYS on one of my 2 days off DOES significantly interfere.

Awww! *hugs Miss Coco* Well, don't worry, Miss Coco. All these updates means that LL has fixed up SL a little better. I actually look foward to them because they always have something new, no matter how little or big. I understand if it's overwhelming for you, though! Just don't worry, okay?

All updates cause problems for some people and increase performance for others. Seemingly it has little to do with the relative capabilities of their system, altho this last one seems to have made some problems for most ppl with lesser systems while vastly improving performance for those with good systems, myself included. I've noticed a HUGE increase in performance, my avg fps has almost doubled regardless of where I go. While that's great for me, it sucks for those with lesser machines (note that my computer is about two years old now but when I built it I made sure to use quality parts and a processor and vid card that wouldn't become instantly useless). There is no fix all to make SL great for everyone with a computer unless they take away the quality and most of the features we all use and love. So while each update will most likely upset a certain group of people, they are a necessity if we ever want SL to become what we all believe it can. Without updates, SL would become a static and sterile environment, and if that's what you (whoever) wants I've heard of this game called There that should suit you. The only options for people suffering more and more with each update is to upgrade their computer, buy a new one, live with the crappy performance or simply stop playing SL. I know that's kinda harsh, but it's just the simple truth. (and no, I'm not trying to tell anyone to stop their whinning, just doing what most people do in the forums and posting my thoghts)

From: Surreal Farber And finally! Classified autorenew. Yeah, I love this and I bet the classifieds are really going to become a huge sink for Lindens. I find it to be money very well spent in terms of advertising.

Except for those who are older than a few weeks and know to view them in the ascending order so 50l classified come up first.

I agree the updates are a good thing. I compared it to the drought that was TSO. These updates are like refreshing water in comparison. What I'm getting fatigued by is all the time being in an update mode. It's like constantly moving house. You're moving to a new house, hopefully a better house, sure - but you'd like to just settle down a bit between moves and enjoy the house you've got! Update fatigue. coco
