Here's the question: Why add the meet-ups forum? Not to mention the foreign language forums? And before that the "poly-sci" forum? And then take away the USEFUL FORUMS - not like those aren't, maybe I should say the REALLY USED forums - like land sales and rentals, job opportunities, and fansites? What do you suppose they're thinking, anyway? Just wonderin' . . . coco

Maybe they want people who are looking at the products for sale or rent type info to be inworld ready to buy at the time they see the item and decide they want it. They might think this, coupled with the easy purchase of lindens on Lindex, would make more sales actually take place. More of an impulse type purchase.

It's another way to foster fragmentation of The Community All Hail The Central Community and at the same time give them somewhere to shift things they don't like such as this so that noone will see them or comment on them.

lol, Khamon! coco P.S. I guess that reasoning works. Though I don't like it at all. I'd rather they got rid of Poly-Sci, Games, and Neworld Notes though!

From: Beau Perkins Cocoanuts, do you ever just let things go? Hey, you were warned it was going to be a dumb question. This thread delivers! edit: From: elka Lehane Hum me too, but that's like the 4th time now. LOL bah! Wow, heh, you weren't exaggerating. I count four threads started by the same person about the same topic in the last week or so. I doubt many disagree that the classifieds move was odd. The disagreement is that a new thread needs to be made for every single thought subsequent to that decision.

From: Beau Perkins Cocoanuts, do you ever just let things go? Of course. When I first joined SL, I was most concerned about not getting enough support for events, because I wanted to do events. They had just done away with the event stipends, too. But pretty soon it became apparent there other issues more important to me and less lost causes. I still worry about the events, but they've been supplanted by things more important things to me. I also worried that new people had nothing productive to do and no way to make money really. I still think that's a big problem, but you notice I don't talk about it much, because these other things are bigger fish to fry for me. This classified deal isn't a total lost cause yet, in my estimation. coco p.s. There is no "s" on "Cocoanut," though I am perfectly happy if you spell it as, "Coco, a nut."

From: Buster Peel There has to be a reason for everything? Ha ha, yeah - very late at night, the question does often start to be "why." Ever notice that? Plus I had just noticed they had no problem adding that meetings forum, so . . . why? I think the answer must be, "Oh - this could be a money sink! And God knows, any little picayune money sink we can get is far more important than something silly like player morale or efficient communication, or a feeling of community." coco hey, I don't start many threads. I get to do that now and then.

I think it is all a conspiracy to thwart Prokofy by the FIC.

Hmm, well as you point out the new products, ect. were all being used, and people were seeing them, and they worked - people use them to promote their content, connect with people and find jobs, sell land, ect.
However, we also have the money-sink system in world where you pay to have your add put in the find menu - I'm guessing they wanted to push us towards that more. Which makes me wonder why they didn't just set it up so someone has to pay X amt of linden dollars whenever they post to the classified forums, instead of trying to get us to favor and utilize a money sink that is obviously in it's current form less usable and less popular than the forums.

From: Cristiano Midnight I think it is all a conspiracy to thwart Prokofy by the FIC. Of course. All of the data I've gathered points towards a steady parallel between the success of the classified forums and the success of Prokofy.

From: DogSpot Boxer Yeah, like what's the purpose of giving Coco a hard time? I think anyone who makes four new threads about an issue that already has an abundant number of threads is going to get the "wtf, man, let it go already" treatment, particularly when the behavior persists long after a resolution has persisted. It gets a little grating to deal with someone who "won't change her mind and won't change the subject," as Churchill might say. Speaking of that, I should count my blessings. At "forum reform" is something that no longer gets tossed into every single possible thread imaginable!

Oh my God! He's right! Twenty lashes to Coco right away! And there's proof! Just look at these four threads: 1. "Hold the Phone! We're losing the rest of Classifieds!" - General. 2. "The Rest of Classifieds?" - Question in Hotline, which was answered. 3. "Classified Closing Clarified: Where We Are Now" - General, after the "Hold the Phone" thread was closed. To devise how to deal with the decision. 4. And finally, "Just a dumb question, because I'm Tired." Oh! My! God! There's isn't even any RHYME or REASON to those! Coco is just . . . you know, STARTING THREADS!!! One thread per thought! Let's all talk about THAT!!! ... You know, Enabran, you can start your own threads, too, about things you're concerned about. In fact, if nobody ever started threads, we wouldn't have any forums to read. coco

From: Cocoanut Koala You know, Enabran, you can start your own threads, too, about things you're concerned about. In fact, if nobody ever started threads, we wouldn't have any forums to read. I think the point is not that threads are opened, but that they are opened about the exact same subject in rapid succession, often to state the obvious, and while numerous other threads on the exact same subject are still in play. It is pretty wearisome. Maybe you do it as an attention craving thing, I dunno.

At "forum reform" is something that no longer gets tossed into every single possible thread imaginable! I'll ask you the same question, I asked Buster. Is someone forcing you to read and comment in this thread? Explain to me how it is that you are being "forced to deal with" Coco, when you aren't under any obligation to read anything she's posted? Here's the thing, Enabran. If it's "grating", it's because you choose to read Coco's posts and allow yourself to be "grated" by her comments. There is absolutely NO good reason to be giving Coco a hard time in this thread. April, that's not a hard time.
