So we all wait diligently for the promised land of 2.0 - 1.9.0.x seems like we're one decimal increment away from 2.0, but now they introduce 1.10.0.x???

How many decimal increments will you go? Does this mean we have to wait until version 1.99.99.9 is released before we can even hope to see 2.0 - or will there be a 1.100.0.x version too? At this rate we'll be at version 1.1000.1000.1000 before 2.0

Just freakin' call it what it is - BETA - and when you finally settle on a WORKING product, THEN call it 1.0

Seems someone has attached some magical significance to the number 2.0...

In the end, it's just a number. Being called 2.0 does not change anything about the state of the game or what features it has. Call it "Balogna Sandwich Version" and its still the exact same product.

*shrug*

They promised us land in 2.0?

Ok, now I am getting impatient too *taps foot* ...

Ah, well it isn't too strange. World of Warcraft did it too.

Some others...

When we reach 2.0, we'll have the metaverse.
Metaverses take time, STFU. You're computer can't handle it anyway.
No, it can't. Trust me.

1.10, it's a grand number, although not mathematically sound.

It's mathematically sound if it's printed in binary. But then we'd be reverting to 1.2 which would not go over well I'm thinking.

I bet if we had a "Bologna Sandwich Version" people would consider this a significant change.

Well, they were forced to use 1.10.0.x you see.

You may or may not remember, but Micro$oft and Amazon.com have patent applications out on the numbers 2-9. They were not able to get 1 and 0 since they are considered binary digits and are covered under the Public Domain.

So by going to version 1.10.0.x they are only using binary numbers and avoid having the pay a royalty fee to the M$/Amazon.com alliance.

For refference, here are the next few version numbers:

01001001 01100110 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 00100000 01110100 01101111 01101111 01101011 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01110100 01101001 01101101 01100101 00100000 01110100 01101111 00100000 01110100 01110010 01100001 01101110 01110011 01101100 01100001 01110100 01100101 00100000 01110100 01101000 01101001 01110011 00101100 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 00100000 01101000 01100001 01110110 01100101 00100000 01110100 01101111 01101111 00100000 01101101 01110101 01100011 01101000 00100000 01110100 01101001 01101101 01100101 00100000 01101111 01101110 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 01110010 00100000 01101000 01100001 01101110 01100100 01110011 00100001

Uhh.

Welcome to version numbering?

It's not decimal notation, there, chief.

What is with the freaking out over version numbering? Get the fuck over it, they can call it version 107.A92 if they want to. What is insane is complaining about it, not the version numbering system they are using.

ok, now I'm curious as to just how monstrous of an update it would take for them to say "ok, you know what, let's call this one v2.0"
