Is this a clue to the Starax mystery?

Yea. I was coming up with chinese like charcaters as well looking it over. When I did a Google search on those characters I found a match to a page discussing bicycles. There was a list of names. Chang Ying (<my copy/paste of characters didn't work>;) came up. Perhaps that explains the "CY"? Maybe a metal producer company code of sort. I did find a "Chang Ying Metal Ind Co Ltd".

Perhaps it is a virtual expression of a real-world simplified formation of the ideal Ama-Gi - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ama-gi .

Anyone thought it might say CY-Z19?

Go Google that - Starax unmasked! :D

Another point is that you could interpret it like this...

Cee You 21/9/06... date in European format and that Z might be a 2?
Probably just wishful thinking. But wouldn't it be nice if it were the message? <sighs> Still, our magician might return one day, hopefully.

a perfect example of why i will mourn the loss of the general topics forum - an introduction by another member of our community to something interesting i hadn't stumbled across yet...

(hermia, just how did you make the connection between the chinese character and the sumerian ama-gi?)

Through meticulous research that took me about 5 minutes, I've uncovered the following clues about Starax from Google, none of which is remotely plausible:

A "chastity swivel barstool"?

http://www.sarahgifts.com/product_info.php/products_id/453895614

A real estate listing, advertising sale of land in Cyprus for CY219 (219 Cyprus pounds) per square meter?

http://www.buysellcyprus.com/nqcontent.cfm?a_name=v3_search_result_plp

A British government website detailing a statute affecting Wales -- in Welsh?

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/legislation/wales/wsi2001/20012678w.htm

A help-wanted ad, designated CY-219, for a database administrator in Cincinnati?

The other bike part photos with CY numbers have numbers that coincidentally correspond to a number of codes in the Iowa Games race sked.

Something silly (and perhaps insignificant) just occurred to me: could CY be meant as, 'see why?' It does seem to be a puzzle, after all... although I'm not sure what the 219 (or Z19) would refer to, in that case...

Hehe. The "2" which looks like a "Z" is because of the writer themself. Given the character strokes of Chinese I can see why the number 2 looks like a Z. ;) Just take a look at some of the other photos provided and notice the strokes of certain characters/numbers. One of those carried over habits. Then again, Starax may have intended on this.

Anyone happen to have Starax's wand? Crazy thought but I don't own one and thought maybe someone could try something with the wand in regards to CY-219(or other variations). Silly but worth a try.

I haven't yet seen the Chinese character. I was reading a Wikipedia article - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarcho-capitalist_terminology_and_symbolism - and saw the Sumerian word for Freedom. The shape reminded me of Starax's mysterious object.

Doesn't work, I even looked at the items in the wand, none named that. :/

LOL

The flickr site is someone posting pictures for eBay.

CY- 219 spells

C Y - BAI

See you, bye.

simple...

The movie is perhaps a few frames and it loops forever so don't bother watching. He is gone people... His sculptures, his wand, and his passive aggressive attitude -- all gone.

Let's get back to worrying about the forums. lol
