From: Doc Nielsen Hmmm, WHAT proportion Enabran? I'm not sure, Doc. But! Perhaps we can derive the answer by tallying the number of sims owned by the largest landholder in Second Life, then dividing that number by the total sims remaining. Or is it the total of all sims? Math was never my strong suit. But you get the idea.

From: Doc Nielsen Hmmm, wonder how many sims you have to own before you become un-banable? Heheh. That would make a great Linden Hotline question.

@ Enabran: I don't know what this thread's about but I miss Enabran's signatures.. When's the next one coming up, Big E? From: Enabran Templar I'm not sure, Doc. But! From: Sitearm Madonna @ Enabran: I don't know what this thread's about but I miss Enabran's signatures.. When's the next one coming up, Big E? After I purged my super annoying image sig, I was too lazy to restore my David Linden sig. I dunno. I'm sure I'll put a tasteful banner ad for the TTD-X in there when it's time to release it.

Eh. Frankly I don't think either side in this is innocent of mud-slinging. Glass houses and stones, etc.
Anshe is a popular target, which probably has as much to do with her threads getting locked frequently as anything she actually does.
(I'm on neither side. The extent of my dealings with Anshe are that I bought my most recent land from her, because the prices weren't L$19.5k per square meter like some people in the same sim appear to believe is reasonable, and the fact that I find fields full of row after row of Ansheboxes rather annoying to look at. Variety and a little more subtlety would be nice. But it could be worse.)
Also, the barbs behind your innocent tone are a bit too obvious to be very effective. Perish the thought that this thread might get closed because of stuff like that, rather than the fact that it references Anshe's posts...

I used a swear word for the first time on the forums and it got edited and the thread closed. Anshe spews out bile against Ginko and reveals rl information, which is against the TOS, and she remains unscathed and none of her posts were edited. What the hell is going on LL?

Ah... OK... Well, put it like this. Anshe at her best is a highly disruptive influence in the forums, her recent posts having plumbed new depths of extreme behaviour, not to mention having pushed the forum rules far beyond what any lesser mortal could ever hope to without discplinary action. So... Does someone that disruptive and who is putting LL in such an embarassing position deserve forum priveleges? A straight yes or no will do, though a bit of 'constructive discussion' please before the axe falls.

From: Doc Nielsen Anshe at her best is a highly disruptive influence in the forums, her recent posts having plumbed new depths of extreme behaviour, not to mention having pushed the forum rules far beyond what any lesser mortal could ever hope to without discplinary action. I can't give you a straight yes or no, because I'm not certain I buy your initial premise that she's all that disruptive in the first place. I haven't seen much evidence of it. And even if she is, she's by no stretch of the imagination the only one, so why single her out? That just makes you seem to have it in for her for no good reason and makes it more likely the thread will get closed for personal attacks (regardless of whether she can get away with that or not ... you shouldn't do it yourself, not if your purpose is to promote a serious discussion). I haven't noticed Anshe having any undue influence on the tone here, one way or the other; the forums appear plenty vindictive, etc. to me, regardless of her presence in the threads. Just last week there was an enormous thread which engaged in some rather blatant bashing on a particular resident, for no justifiable reason that I could see. And as I recall, it had little or nothing to do with Anshe (I could be mistaken, as I don't feel like digging it up right now). The thread was simply locked. I don't recall anyone getting banned over it ... or even suggesting that someone should be. (The first few posts you made in this thread seem at least as potentially disruptive as anything I've ever seen her post. Should you be banned for them?) But maybe she's just getting lost in the noise. I certainly am not going to say that Anshe's the soul of kindness ... I merely give her the benefit of the doubt, as I tend to do with everyone until they demonstrate that I shouldn't. There's only one person on the forums that I've ever felt actually needed to lose forum privileges for the reasons that you suggest, and that has already occurred. If we're going to start doing that regularly, the forum population will start to get a lot thinner. Which might be an improvement from the PoV of us more moderate types, but I'll refrain from suggesting that it's something we actually NEED to do. It'd really be better if people grew up on their own. In any case, the question is really moot if I accept your premise. If you are right in believing that Anshe is immune to disciplinary actions, it follows that she won't be banned, so why bother to discuss it?

From: Doc Nielsen As it seems impossible to have a thread
a) with Anshe posting in it
or
b) with reference to Anshe's posts
without the thread being closed due to 'no obvious constructive discussion in this thread' what conclusions can be drawn about the usefulness of Anshe continuing to be allowed forum posting privileges?
Discuss... constructively... It takes a village to kill a thread. Anshe can't do it by herself.

Let's leave out Anshe's behavior for a moment: I'm not going to comment on whether it's been good or bad.
Regardless of the merits of one's personal behavior, a successful individual will always have detractors.
No one can doubt that Anshe is successful. She's turned (according to her claims) a $9.95 investment into the largest entity in Second Life.
This is a little like Bill Gates helping start Microsoft 30 years ago and now being the multi-billionare he is today. In fact, he is the richest man in America today. He certainly has his detractors. In fact, many people hate Microsoft just because they're successful.
The simple fact is that no matter what she says, people will object just because she's saying it.
Add to that the fact that some of her comments can be confrontational, and you have a powder keg.
I believe that if anybody else had posted what Anshe did about the SL bank, it would have been received differently. Maybe not much better, but people would certainly have had some sort of different reaction to it.
I'm not saying that Anshe should or should not post, but I do think that everybody who wishes they were her should learn to separate their jealousy from their objective evaluation of what Anshe said.

This thread is not appropriate for the SL Forums, Forum Guideline copied below: Private discussions – the forums are a public area for the Second Life community’s use. Individuals who have a dispute with each other have other channels of communication to discuss their differences or communicate – private messaging, IM within Second Life, or chatting within Second Life. Also, threads that are addressed to a single individual or group are inappropriate on the forums, this includes slander or "naming names" in a posts title, starting polls about a particular resident or group, etc.
