None never. Why would I want to care where other people are? It is none of my business.

My friends list or calling card is not an excuse for people to map and port in without so much as a warning. All my friends know this, and I don't use their calling card as a reason to drop by unannounced on them either. To do so, is just plain rude, and frankly I've been raised better. I mean, just because it's SL doesn't mean you can throw your manners out the window.

Besides these are my friends. Shouldn't I show at least my respect for them by not invading their privacy?

I don't stop people from mapping me nor do I go in hysterics if they do (as if I'll be able to know), and I've done my fair share of mapping. If i don't find my friends within Caledon and realize they're in a sandbox somewhere, I keep away because that means they're busy. If I see that my friend's green dot is surrounded by other green dots, I ask what's going on, and if it sounds interesting, I then ask permission if I could join him/her.

However teleporting in without permission? Never. I know I'm nosy and curious but I don't have to be rude about it.

Someone also claimed in another thread that you don't even need to exchange calling cards to map and port (which makes it even more difficult, stalkers anyone?) I'm not sure if this is true. Can someone verify this information?

I can't think of anything I would be doing alone in SL that is more important than my SL family and some close friends. They know that if I'm alone, they can drop in on me and it would be my pleasure. In that regard, I would, and have, dropped in on them without notice at times if they're alone and in a familiar place. Otherwise I would IM them first if I needed to see them face to face.

being alone 99% of the time working and designing i love it when people just pop in. It can get very lonely being a designer so i truly do love it when people pop in on me. not that it happens very often :(

as for me i map every one and any one i want if i need to talk to them i check to see if there alone. with the exception of a very small few I do not just pop in on them with out warning.

My close friends and I hang out in a couple of public areas and when I feel like being sociable I map them to see if they are there then tp my big arse on their giant heads. If they're not there then I leave them alone. I'm pretty sure that they do the same thing to me.

Generally if I feel like bugging someone I'll IM them first and wait til they invite me.

but yeah, generally I don't pop in unnanounced. There was one guy who used to map me all the time whenever I was on and bust in on my where ever I went, I'd say... "uh I have to go now, being TP'd by a friend, she needs to talk to me privately" and leave and 10 seconds later he'd follow me, now that's just plain rude. I deleted his cc and he started stalking me through 'find a person' to see when I was online and then abuse the crap out of me.

Apart from that one psychotic individual I actually like it when people drop by unannounced, I mean within reason that is. I love it when my friends just pop around to say hi and stuff... I never do anything dodgy anyway in second life so there's no problem there. (now my first life however... :D )

I map to my slave unannounced sometimes, but it's rare. She's my slave, I figure that goes with a certain right to do so.

And if I partner someone. Like actually partner, or would plan to pop the question within a week or so. I mean, if I port to them and they're doing something that they wouldn't want me seeing, getting mad at me for mapping them is a bit like running into a priest in a porn shop, you know?

"Why the hell are you here?"
"Why the hell are YOU here?"
"Erm...."

In both cases, I still usually request or at least IM my presence to them first.

Sometimes I'm sent a TP that I have to refuse because I'm busy.

I Map to catch up when I'm clear. Thing is I don't normally say that I'm already coming over.

So while it still is unnanounced, it's not quite univited either.

Total times I've done this ... twice maybe?

There's much talk of how rude it is to map someone and teleport to the top of their head with no warning.

Not only do I do this with absolutely no warning, I make sure to shout "SUPER MARIOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" and play the SMW theme as soon as I zone in.

LOL

If you don't want to be mapped or tp-ed on...then you'll have to delete all your calling cards.

I don't mind being mapped.
I'm 90% of the time AFK anyways...
So i'm quite boring company...since i never say anything because i'm afk.

The ability to map teleport to people got me into trouble with my mate last week. Someone was flirting with me and it was one of those people you just cant say no to. Well we ended up Yiffing (Sexing) in a hidden location. 1 of my friends picked that time to Tp to me and imediatly got ejected from the room.

Next thing you know here comes my mate doing the same thing (had just logged in too). He was able to catch what i was doing before he got ejected. I had a hard time trying to explain that to him... FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE PLEASE REMOVE THIS ABILITY (or make it optional)! Sometimes a girl likes to have a little fun alone with someone now and then...

I have got into the practice of removing friendships over this, but my mate? I can't do that, sorry... I never have and never will map tp to someone, and i wish my friends would READ MY PROFILE so they know i don't accept it in return.
