If you were going to do a guided tour of SL which stops would you put on it?

Nah, I'm not really competition.

I was just trying to present an idea and how to get newbies to enjoy the game without having to overly give them free stuff.

Anyways, it's really good to see someone is thinking about doing a business around this.

blaze, if you are giving tours to newbies, make sure you show them ivory tower of prims (and tell them to step outside the bus and make a landmark LOL)

in terms of interesting builds, i might add to the list a few others:
atlantis
Many people like sanctum santorum as well.
of course there is the oil rig in Anwr
ari's toonville build in olive
is chinatown still around?

LOL and surreal's trailer trash spot

Yah dont forget the Oil Rig, that is a great build. If you care to get two birds with one stone The Roadhouse has a 10/5 Hold em table always set on autodealer, and a complete skydiving set up within 20 meters of each other. Theres also a playgorund and waterfall in the same complex.

There are way too MANY places in SL lol

The flying in boat/balloon/ship/car/vehicle thing sounds the best way to do a qiuck tour of SL:)

Two of my Favorite Places are River Walk and Silk Waters Mountain. I don't have exact location information with me right now. If you can't locate them in Find, IM me inWorld later.

River Walk is an extensive and beautiful build, and is what you would expect from the name -- a park alongside a river. They just finished their 2nd annual arts festival, and continue to have art on display along the walk.

Silk Waters Mountain is a large build, nearly an entire sim. My favorite feature is the zen garden.

The Moth Temple in Iris. Come on a Saturday night when we have the Moth Swarm!

The Pharos Lighthouse on Pharos Island in Ross by SuLuMor Romulus
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon in Refugio also by SuLumor (yeah, shameless plugs for my commissions)

Aztecha Sky Temple in Columbia by Foolish Frost

Ravenglass Hall and the bridge between Ravenglass and Carlisle -- yeah, shameless plugs because these are the works of talented architects -- Foolish Frost in this case, with a treehouse by Botany Black.

Snowboarding in Zermatt

Marcos' towers in Miramare (since Marcos remains a gentlemen to me on the forums, even though he has always ignored me inworld, I'll go on touting his towers, as distinct from the towers of *those other uber architects who have behaved like fucktards to me*.)

Atlantis

The Ice Palace Hotel (if it still exists)

Gypsy Moon

Yes, I'm going to run tours :)

I've written software which will automatically offer tps to people.

I'm actually trying to automate the process even more so I can automatically fly from on place to another.

This way I can continue to harrass people in the forums while I'm giving tours at the same time.

OK!!! to start with i'd start at the ivory tower!

IVORY TOWER
wanna build? well new people always ask me how do i make money? how do i build. who shows you better than ivory tower?

LUSKWOOD TREE
i think thats what its called! the tree is huge and inside full of custom avies made for people. the tree is very pretty i love going there its mellow and intresting

ANTLANTIS
i think thats the name of the sim, a very well done sim, high prims used in such great ways i adore it so much!

And lastly?

SANDBOX!

its a crazy place with all sorts of people! so they can practise what they learned in ivory tower, and well hopefully the tree and atlantis will hvae given them ideas for creation! this tip to such few places would take a few hours and i think for new people its enough to make them sign up and stay

If id have been shown these places day one id have been so excited! anyways thats my trip hell maybe if people wanna take a mock tour for fun ill make an event :D

Oh and i forgot a trip to the Junkyard for freebie heaven! a newbie must!

avalon would be another great stop

A few of my favorites that haven't been mentioned yet: Veranderde - just beautiful and full of little nooks and crannies to explore, the Spook House, ElvenGlen, Port Kar, boating or tubing or jet skiing on any of the waterways, Juro Kothari's big castle, Isle of Tempest, L'Utopie, Seacliff, Obscuro's Vampire Empire, Taco, Loki's upside down house, Eldamar in Darkwood, oh my!
<cries> I can't log in and I miss SL!

Well, him and cubey have flying tours.

My thoughts are I would offer TPs to people, give them a quick explanation of what they can do and then I'd dash off to the next place while everyone played around. After about ten minutes, I'd offer another round of TPs.

I could only do six stops per event probably, so I'd have to have a number of different events.

I would heartily encourage new Residents to visit "elder" sims like Natoma, Welsh, Taber, and soforth, where there are numerous stops of historical worth and fun!

This is where SL grew out of, and hundreds of sims have sprung from their foreheads. ;) I could not imagine an SL complete without the fine heritage of Lumiere Noir's Ivory Tower of Primitives, or Sinatra Cartier's Spook House, or Steller Sunshine's beanstalk, Jai Nomad's Pint Pot Inn and the whole Taber village, Zebulon Starseeker's rotating exhibits of excellence, the "Old Man" statue (which is believed to be the oldest existing build in SL), and so many others. :D

Excellent list. So many places I haven't seen yet.

I would contribute the Forest of Kahruvel to the list. Salazar Jack is maintaining a magical and peaceful place there.

See /108/0c/25531/1.html for more info.

WOW.. I am sitting here at lunch and reading the forums and I am amazed, truly truly amazed that many have put Atlantis on their list of places to visit. As the builder, I see the flaws and tweaking that still need to be done. And really.. I got a lil teary eyed when you were all mentioning it. Ty.. you all made my day.

Anyways!! -- newbies must go to the Ivory Tower of Prims... and study.. its a wonder space for those wanting to learn to build.

Why, I would add SL's only nonprofit land cooperative and democratic republic, Neualtenburg, to the list of stops, blaze.

Rumor has it there is a secret Tinies city hidden underneath the streets!
