I'd rather hang out on a forum with retards (as you have described us by suggesting that our IQ's are at the severely retarded range) than a forum full of thieves who take advantage of a poorly designed land management tool.

But that's just me.

I was going to hang out at secondcitizen.com, but Aimee Weber is a bad seed and I'm afraid her presence will have a negative influence on my behavior.

One observation is that pretty much all the alternative forums are duplicating each other in terms of the gamut of forum topics in each, when clearly each is developing their own particular character.

Perhaps it might serve to create a stronger identity for each forum if administrators focused on their particular strengths, possibly even paring down the topics that play little part in the life of their particular forum.

Doing this might give more point to the existance and use of all of the alternative forums by more of the residents rather than each developing into an insular clique.

Maybe someone could host a "meta-forum", the "rants" would connect to one site, the "newbie help" to another, the "scripting" to another and so on to create a single, networked forum structure with a centralised entry point and even thread title feeds.

Still clutching at straws in the hope of retaining some sense of a unified community...

Really good ideas.

Well, we have one single way to link the aaccounts together across different services: Avatars. The cornerstone of any rational discussion about SL starts with all of us being who we say we are, ISL. Linking forums is a great idea but most of us are probably going to be very parochial in our worldview and want to keep you on our forums.

I think what you will see is a migration to one, possibly two major sites. Which ones, who knows. What I do know, is that none of them are catching my eye as a real true alternative with it's own identity for a mojor forum. They all seem to blend together and each is lacking in one of the following areas: features, members or professionalism you would expect of such a major undertaking.

Disclaimer: My site, that some of you are aware of, does not strive to be a "major player" or a big forum at all. I am in no way endorsing e-pec,info as a viable solution for the entire community. We simply cannot provide the level of service our users are accustomed to if we have 400,000 accounts.

Oh Interesting point. Folks should know that while I endorse Second Citizen as the best new defacto standard forum ... I am not in any way affliliated with Second Citizen. I don't know the owner, I'm not a moderator, I am not involved with them in any way.

I just like place and will likely take all my future postings there.

I'm surprised you like it, Aimee - I went to go take a look, and was... well, sorely disappointed wasn't the word.

- The default avatar is a very unpleasant picture, with "Get an avatar, fucktard!" written on it. I must suffer that, until I get around to uploading an avatar?

- One of the admins has an avatar that has a hand 'flipping off' everyone. Gee, ah, nice to meet you too.

- In less than two minutes I read some of the most juvenile, baseless personal attacks I've ever seen anywhere.

You know, I hold my own pretty well in forums, always have. I'm not worried that I would be treated badly - people who attack me generally just look lame.

What I *am* worried about, is being thought of in the same breath as everything mentioned above.

hmmmm, perhaps you care too much of what other people think about you

i can't help that

and if you read, the people who end up getting pwned there are invariably the ones who come there to start trouble, are trying to "get away with something," or are trying to "manipulate" people

people dont randomly attack people for their character or viewpoints... its always the cheap shots people take that come back at them

people coming to SC just to attack someone generally dont receive that warm of a welcome

also, get an avatar... thats it, the big rule

its posted and everything

if you can't follow that rule, perhaps you might be a fucktard

I think I was pretty clear about why I dislike that forum. And the links I've posted illustrated my point. Just a bunch mindless drones wandering around those forums.

deeds have been exposed, so not only the people who were stolen from know, but the rest of us know as well

i would think of you saying anything bad about anything is a ringing endorsement, but that is because I know what your game is

Appreciate my opinion and stop trying to convince me to become pro-mindless drones. Since when did buying land on the public market become stealing? Perhaps it's part of the drugs you guys hand out at SC that instantly makes someone lose common sense.

How can you argue with me on that point? Let's say little Wrestling Hulka goes in a gas station and buys a snickers bar. He goes to the cashier, gives his money and then walks out the door. That would be called buying.

In another example Wrestling Hulka goes in a gas station, grabs a snickers bar and runs out of the door without paying. That would be called stealing.

What is there to argue on Land Sales? I can confirm with everyone now that I have exchanged Lindens for Land in every single purchase. Except in the cases where I've sold group land to myself for 0L.

I plan on doing some 'shrooms tonight Ingrid! Yummy! Probably only an 1/8, but it's raining here and should provide a good show!

I'll once again extend an invitation to anyone to the Second Life Home Page Forums. They are a duplication of the current Official Forums structure using the latest version of vBulletin (3.6). The domain and hosting have been paid for two years in advance, with 200GB of database storage and 1TB of monthly transfer rate. My hope is for residents, existing, and potential, to continue to have an easy structure to interact, help each other, and perhaps now even answer questions of people interested in joining Second Life.

http://forums.slhomepage.com

Other forums and Second Life related website can also take advantage of the Topsites section of this portal. I've seen http://sl-forums.com rise to the top of the list over the last week.
