With 1.7.1.3 out of the way, have people seen an improvement in sim FPS / time dilation? From: someone Server Frame Rate Now for the good news, overall the % of the grid that is running slowly has decreased since 1.7 launched from an average of 0.5% and 0.9% during primetime to a relatively sable 0.2%. During primetime this is a 4.5 times improvement in simulator performance! However, we do know that there is a very small subset of sims that are having a specific server frame rate problems. We have a small team actively working on solving that problem. Overall, we feel this is a significant achievement, especially since this server performance improvements

Since that last rolling update .... Rezzing has seemed significantly faster to me. Also, I have been in sims with 40 avies and not experienced significant lag. I do still hit some "lag pockets" but really SL does seem to be running much better for me personally(particularly in the rez time when I arrive) - My average FrameRate is around 25 (same as pre update) - and can go down to say 12 in some place like Ice Dragon.

I haven't noticed a difference, I wasn't laggy before the update, but I have thought it was slower sometimes... I dunno... anyways, overall I am running just fine I just wish they would figure out why Bingtris doesn't work anymore

Sim FPS of 20 in Ahern now, and a time dilation of .14.
Only 11 people in the sim.
I'd have to say it needs more work to get back to the 1.6 level.
In the next few minutes time dilation reached 0, and sim fps as well. In fact all the sim stats are at zero. Ping sim is going from it's normal 80-120 to spikes of 743.
While typing this the time dilation went back up to .16.
Must be pretty bad for new users to read a glowing article and come into welcome area and not be able to move.

The abysmal conditions at Ahern persisted for well over an hour.
Now several hours later I am the Ahern telehub, and conditions are just as bad as they were. Time dilation of .1, .04, Sim FPS of 4, 13, 2, fluctuating real low down.
Some thoughtful person started up a machine gun sound right exactly at the telehub and went to away status, making the experience for new users arriving at Ahern even more unpleasant than the extreme slowness would by itself.

I'm still seeing avies that are grey for perceptibly longer than they were in 1.6 (maybe 30 seconds instead of 15), but all the sims I pass through are operating better for me than they were, and my frame rates are all a bit higher - that last I can only attribute to the client code changes tickling my particular hardware in positive ways, as I know there are other folks who are significantly worse off. Different code-paths, I guess, or different settings. For me? Yesterday it was feeling better than 1.6. Today, we'll have to see. I've been getting steady incremental improvements though.

I've had rez-problems and texture problems (upload an image and it is 1x1 pixel for a while then changes to the real size.

Just from my own experience...
1.71 (3) did improve things. Isabel is actually chugging along betwen .95 & .99 time dilation most of the time, which is monumentally better than it was before.
However - now the behavior has changed a bit. Instead of crippling, constant time dilation of .25 and below, Isabel now gets occasional but frequent dips to around .60 or .50 - then - very occasional complete dropouts to 0.00 time dilation for a minute at a time.
The more AVs I have in the sim, the more frequent these dips happen.
AND - just like before - Wingo is just fine, regardless of the number of AV's. Isabel just has 'hiccups' every once in a while now. We had over 20 av's present for Payment Podium tonight in Wingo, and it was smooth as glass.
(Note that I'm split between 2 sims).
Less than 10 avatars in Isabel, and we just had a complete dropout to 0.00.
This is a ton better, and I'm thankful for this change. But we're not out of the woods yet.

I call bullshit on the faster sims statement. They may have rasied the bottom level of performance but they cut the fucking head off the top. Physics suck. Controls suck. Script speed sucks. Sim stability sucks. Chatting and dancing still work. meh.
I tiered up to 1/2 sim yesterday to try and get better performance by removing laggy builds from my home sim. Going by the wiki on the new sim stats my sim was/is running great. Top of the charts.
I have a race track i built (in yora) to use while updating a sportbike i'm constantly working on. In 1.6 driving sucked. you would bounce 10m in the air for no reason and such, but it was almost doable, almost. I could do steady laps of 18 seconds. With the latest 1.7 # i'm 2 seconds off that time on my best laps. Strange metric, but it's what i'm about. I don't care if clubs can now lag slightly less with 40 people running animations and saying /ao off.
I want some fucking performance from this game sometime soon. mmmkay? thanks.
/only SL can make me this mad on a friday

This morning Ahern had 12 people in it, and performance was fine, good time dilation and sim fps. No apparent difference that would account for it.

The rolling update made my sim (DeHaro) worse. I have time dilation problems now when I didn't right after they brought out 1.7.

I have been noticing that Miramare seems to slowly degrade over time, starting off with time dialation in the .9'ish range, and then as time progresses over the days, it keeps dropping and dropping until earlier this week it was stuck perpetually at <.10 (with only my AV there.) As luck would have it, the sim ended up crashing after sitting at around .02-.04 for an hour, when it came up, it was holding a strong .99 - bairly ever dropping. A few days later, it seems that the cycle is happening again, slowly creaping down.

i'm definitely not seeing an improvement... if anything I'm noticing horrible time dilation and very odd inconsistencies.
Garrison can be running ok for part of a day, and then the next day it's bouncing between ZERO time dilation and 0.50 at the high end with around 5 avatars in it... and needless to say, you can't get anything done in those conditions.
There seem to be a lot of sims with time dilation buried in the 0.20 range.
Definitely right now SL is less "playable" for building/moving/chatting/etc, not more. It's a shame because LL will probably burn a lot of this wave of new customers. We'll see what this patch on tues brings. Good luck, ye sleepless LL developers.

I wonder if the map might have something to do with the "image processing" Philip refers to in the link.

From: blaze Spinnaker With 1.7.1.3 out of the way, have people seen an improvement in sim FPS / time dilation? Havn't noticed much of a change. I can still fly across a sim at normal avatar speed and only see green grass below me. Buildings take Several minutes to load when I log in. Next?

I definitely noticed the improvement on texture load times. It's much better, but it still needs more work.
Also, I think there needs to be a tertiary issue of the reflection map. it's off at a weird angle and it does make for odd looking reflections. I'm not sure if the Lindens have addressed that problem, but I think they've got their hands full trying to stabilize 1.7 first and foremost.
