For the good of the project, I'm going to have to resign from the SC and depart as a citizen. Let's plan on getting together this weekend after the RA meeting to discuss our options to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible.
I would like to support my land-tier fees as long as my investment lasts and I would like to continue to run the website as an external consultant, if needed.

ack!!! I don't want you to leave Ulrika!! Even if you feel a need to step down from the SC, there is NO REASON you cannot remain a Neualtenburg citizen. Those bitching the most about you wouldn't give a flip about our project even if you were not here. Why let them win?!

~Ulrika~ Then I hope the city has a great time. I don't see what possible reason I have to stick around and wait for my speech to be curtailed.

Those bitching the most about you wouldn't give a flip about our project even if you were not here. Why let them win?! One of the things that has really been difficult for me since the inception of this project is the restriction on my speech. From the very beginning I've been under tremendous pressure to limit my public discussions because my affiliation with the project. Further, I recognize the argument that the city would likely have more citizens if I were no longer affiliated with the project. Because the project is so closely affiliated with me, I don't think stepping down from the SC would solve the problem. Thus, leaving the project until I am no longer synonymous with the project is best. We can discuss this during the meeting this weekend on the ideas I have for my departure. It's no big deal. There will be others. The only thing I'm truly concerned about is that the Constitution and Bill of Rights will be modified to support the ideology of a radical minority to satisfy a political and religious agenda. Isn't that funny? ~Ulrika~

From: Kendra Bancroft Then I hope the city has a great time. I don't see what possible reason I have to stick around and wait for my speech to be curtailed. Provided the new SC does its job, your speech will never be curtailed and the current governmental system will not be undone. In my opinion, for this project to successful, we need to bring together individuals with many disparate viewpoints and have them work together inside the system to settle their differences. My desertion is more of a reflection of the business needs of the city. I've always maintained that in SL we're a city and in RL we're a nonprofit business. From the perspective of a city it doesn't make sense that I leave but from the perspective of a business it does. Let's give the latter a try and see what happens. Nonetheless, you'll definitely be needed to fill the ideological void left behind, maintaining the balance of powers between the branches, keeping our voting system intact, and defining what is and isn't free speech in the city. ~Ulrika~

~Ulrika~ I'll give it a try, but your leaving N'burg honestly makes me ill.

Isn't that funny? ~Ulrika~ As a new incoming citizen, I think that you leaving all together is a really bad idea. You have been the public face of Neualtenburg since it started. I see that most of the problem is not that what you say, but the since you are holding one of the most powerful seats in the government, people assume that you speak for the government. Stepping down as SC may be all you need to do. Leaving, IMHO, just underminds all the free thinkers out there. It tells them that you can join, but you can't be too out spoken. I will admit, I think nothing like you do. I am most likely 180 degrees from most any idea that you have. But, if you were not there, I most likely won't join. I love politics. I love debating. I love it when I get someone that agrees with almost nothing I do. Then I have a challange. That is what is fun. It may be selfish, but I want you to stay, just so I know I have someone to debate issues with.

Ye gods, I hate it when the "new posts" function fails me so.
I'm in agreement with Kendra here. Even given I posted regarding this, my intent was merely to point out that Ulrika is one of the entities that pass for public figures in SL due to Neualtenburg and, like it or not, there's an assocation.
I suppose terminating the association is one way to resolve the dilemma, but it's not the one I'd prefer. (Granted, the other two options seem to be continue as is, with all the bad luggage that entails, or Ulrika holding her tongue... and I can easily see why neither would appeal.)
I do wish, if any action must be done, that you'd see fit to stay a citizen at the least. Damned if I want to go down in history as a contributing factor.

I could say... From: someone It is a shame to see you go. The goal of the project is to bring together many individuals with disparate viewpoints and have them reach consensus through a shared governmental system. Having differences is normal and encouraged. Through departure one loses their chance to affect change. ... but instead I'll just wish you good luck. You are an interesting person. Not one I know or understand well, but a thought provoking, brilliant, frustrating, admirable, and contentious person. You made Neualtenburg what it is. Without you I doubt it would exist. For that, I thank you. I'm sorry you feel you need to leave. I don't think that is necessary, but I respect your decision. You've made your mark here, and I am sure you will always be welcome to return.

From: Ulrika Zugzwang When I return, I will be more powerful than he could possible imagine. ~Ulrika~ Still not powerful enough to insult God and the Christian faith worldwide, and call for the destruction of our religeous texts, and not suffer because of it.
