I was disheartened to learn that 1.6.2 did not repair this bug. Looking through the forums I can see where some confusion lies concerning it, so I'll explain. In this thread titled "Cannot Manipulate Tiny Prims" Chilly Charlton did an excellent job explaining the bug as: From: Chilly Charlton I am having terrible problems trying to rotate or move tiny tiny prims. as soon as you grab a handle the whole camera zooms back to where you can not even see the prim any more. it makes working with small prims impossible now. Anyone else having this issue and is there a work around?
Note: to reproduce use a VERY tiny prim an zoom in VERY close.
The camera "poping" back problem did not happen previous to this release. This makes working on jewelry virtualy impossible. I would like for any work around to be posted here. Please don't suggest building big and then stretching small when done. This is not an option for me (for many reasons). The discussion in that thread turned into a camera wobble discussion and a snap-to-grid discussion - neither of which apply. Chosen few pointed out that LL had valididated the existence of this bug in this thread. Indeed he had, but that thread is from last June. The one Chilly Charlton and I and others have problems with didn't pop up until 1.6 came around and it is eating the guts out of our jewelry businesses or any that count on being able to manipulate tiny prims. Please, I will gladly walk any Linden through the bug in SL given the chance so they can see exactly what we mean. This bug has reoccurred since 1.6 and persists through two upgrades. It did NOT exist in 1.5. It is not to be confused with camera wobble or grid snapping or a bug similar to one in a version run in June 2004. Thank you for your time.

That's a real bummer, Random. Have you posted to the Hotline forums or contacted one of the UI/build Lindens?

From: Random Calliope Chosen few pointed out that LL had valididated the existence of this bug in this thread. Indeed he had, but that thread is from last June. Random, kindly explain why if the thread I pointed out was from last June is it plainly dated April 2, 2005? Now, if anyone's interested in an acurate explanation, both of the threads in question were started by Cilly Charlton, and both are regarding 1.6. I'm assuming Chilly saw fit to post the same information twice because the original thread was in Hotline to Linden, and thus was not open for discussion. While it's good that he brought the topic to the building forum, where it could be discussed, Cilly's post there seemed a bit irresponsible to me snce he already knew full well that LL was on the case but he neglected to mention as much. I thought the logical thing to in order do to make Cilly's second thread whole was to post a link to his first thread, which is what I did. Thanks for the effort, Random, but in the future if you're going to take it upon yourself to clear up confusion by offering a definitive explanation of something, you'd do well to make sure your information is 100% acurate. This goes double if you're going to use my name.

From: Chosen Few Random, kindly explain why if the thread I pointed out was from last June is it plainly dated April 2, 2005? I'm guilty of the common bugs plaguing humanity for which no development team has yet been assembled to repair. Thanks for the clarification. From: Talila Liu I remember this, and I still worked around it everytime. Come see my Pentagram earrings if you want to see what I have made with this bug. I'd love to come and see them. I hope you don't mind if I look you up. Maybe we could trade pointers specific to our trade.

1.6.3 still contains this bug. I've spoken with a Linden in-world who said they're working on editing bugs as we spoke last week and this one would be mentioned. I talked him through seeing the bug for himself. I had already opened a bug report.

This bug is what brought me to these forums. FWIW I'm happy to see that using ctrl-0 to zoom in will cause it to occur less ... use ctrl-9 to reset your zoom.
The thing that bugs me the most about this bug, is that often with my camera view jerking around upon editing, it also jerks the object around. So I'll go to rotate it, and the camera "snaps" and the object does a 180 and I'm like *#@&$&#$&!!!!
What's interesting is that it only does this on the first 'edit' ... so if you click real fast and then let go, and click again you can edit it without the camera moving. I can't wait to try the # trick above when I get home though, because often I like to edit, change camera view, edit again, etc, etc, as I'm working with very small objects.
It's annoying to see this problem still existing though, with the lindens acknowledging it. Everyone file a bug report! I did a while ago. Might file another one. Steps to reproduce:
1. Create object to minimum size: 0.010 in all dimensions 2. Click on object and zoom in very close for editing. 3. change objects position or rotation. 4. POOF .. your camera view is now staring at your left nostril.

~Talila lol i do work around it .... but... what a pain! the Alt-0 solution helps a bit but i look forward to the day when we can work micro nice and cleanly... then again, i look forward to havoc 2 and render engine 2.0 and sim's able to hold more than 40 avatars and seamless vehicle sim crossings and... ok ok... my list of fixes and features from SL will never end. I still love the damn thing.

If I may ask... what is the problem with working large then rescaling everything?
You'd want to pick a scale you're going to work at (say 10 times larger, or 50), and make sure to never make anything smaller than 0.01 x scale. Then, when you're done, select all, link, shrink down.
I've not had problems with this (I've been making fractal stuff like this), though you do have to keep track of the numbers.
