Hi!

While sculpty prims is probably the way to go, I unfortunately have not been able to learn blender yet.

Are there any "tutorials" or threads here (Searched but could not find) that would explain how to make different types of flower petals?

I thought about perhaps looking at a mod flower`s object properties, but i`m not too sure if thats the wrong thing to do. Granted, I would not mind if tables were turned; but i`m not sure how others feel about that. (Perhaps if they much minded it would be "No mod"?)

Concerning blender- is that strugglesome to learn? Are there easier applications that produce nice realistic sculpties?

Try SculptyPaint, which is a free program for making Sculpted Prims. It has a function just to create flower shapes.

Another free option is to use Wings3D and an exported plugin by Omei Turnbull

And here is a good tutorial for using Wings3D to create sculpted prims
/128/0f/194556/1.html

As far as looking at the prims in a Mod enabled flower, I would say go for it. Taking apart objects is a great way to learn and get ideas. I'm sure there is a line somewhere between examining an object and actually duplicating an object, but it would be hard to pin down exactly where that line lies...

I create Mod enabled flowers and would have no problem with people inspecting them to learn about building.

I have had a lot of luck with the Torus, the king of the Prims. :) Try using the twist, path cut, and profile cut options to create curvy shapes. A tiny section of a twisted torus can take on some very organic shapes. Twisted and cut Spheres and Tubes can create some nice curvy shapes as well..

For example, here is a nice basic leaf shape from a sphere:

Path cut: b .650 e .850
Hollow: 94
Twist Begin and End: 0
Profile cut: b 0.299 e 1.000

Thanks a ton man.

I`ll also check out your flowers next time im in world since you`re ok with it :)

(Also, Sculptypaint was the first I looked into awhile back, looks way too jagged for me though.)

Thanks for the response!

Hi, first off learn by copy is the main method by which humans through all time have improved their talent and their lot in life. Fie on anyone who'd cast aspersions on you for that.
And yes if it's modable mod away : )

check out my sculpty flowers here

I use Blender. I like it. there are hundreds of video tutorials about useing blender.
Take and play with it a while and before long, you'll be comfortable with it.
heck you might even get addicted to it. (did you know you can make games with blender? and awesome movies?)

finally, modable sculpties won't help you learn anything about blender or how to make sculpties. But they are more funn than the other kind.:)
