Shrinking Problem

I've just started out on SL, and I've been trying to make some small items- specifically a necklace, shades, and a flower-shaped pin. The thing is, I couldn't make any of these items small enough. Even if I remove the small details that have a .010 size, I still can't shrink the items enough for their appropriate size.

Is there any way to solve this?

Thanks,
Dorian

i can't really solve your issue without taking a look at the actual build, but to be honest, when building in miniature, I do not think starting big and shrinking down works at all. This is useful for getting from a large build to a medium sized one, but not when you are working at the edges of SL's size constraints.

I would advise that you either start as small as possible and then scale UP, or simply work at the size you want from the beginning. You will need to use the Ctrl-9, Ctrl-0 camera shift until the zoom bug is fixed in 1.7, but thankfully that camera bug fix is coming.

And in terms of getting prims really small, you may already know these techniques but cutting and dimpling are really important. To dimple a cube, simple change it to a sphere for a moment, add the dimple, and then change it back.

Many thanks for the advice, starting small worked. Granted it had to lose some details but you gotta work with what you've got =)

Here's a good guide to building tiny prims:
