I would love it if someone could explain how these stair cases and ladders do not exhibit rounding! All of the sculpties that I have done have some amount of rounding.

You don't say how you are making your sculpties, but two possibilities come to mind:

1) You are using a modeling technique that doesn't give you precise control over the mesh vertices. This is true of many of the techniques provided by the more sophisticated modeling apps.

2) You are modeling at 64x64 without quadrupling up all your vertices. If you have a 64x64 sculpty bitmap, SL is going to completely ignore three quarters of the vertices. If you try to make a sharp edge out of vertices that are ignored, it won't be sharp in SL. The simplest way to deal with this is to model with a 32x32 or smaller mesh. In DanielFox's tutorials, he used a 64x64 mesh, but his starting point was a model that had already had vertices collapsed.
