I saw in game a house that had shingles on it like in real life. If I can make a house, do I have to put them on 1 at a time? That makes a lot of objects prims dont it?

There is a "Textures->Buildings->Shingles" Texture in the library.
Size it to about .2 and I like to set the color to grey |

Where can I get shingles? Most commonly, you get shingles on one side of your chest or abdomen, or down one arm or leg. You can also get it on your head, and if it affects your upper cheek or the side of your forehead you can also get it in your eye. If you want to get shingles, first get chicken pox. Wait for it to clear up, and then take an immune suppressing drug to give the virus a chance to revitalize in your nervous system. That should do the trick. ![]() _____________________

You know, I hate people who take advantage of somebody's question because it could mean 2 things. It just makes you look like a total pillac because the question is explained fully as her post and cannot be mistaken.
@Selador: I think the question should be moved around a bit and aimed at you instead. Do you wank on holiday? @Sabrina: Well, I'm not too much of a builder yet but I would recommend going with the advice given by Grumble ![]() |

The heat on Sabrina was because of two threads (this one included) The other one is: /140/9f/126636/1.html And this was the original thread: /140/c3/125330/1.html I think you'll see why Selador and several others, myself included, got mad at Sabrina. _____________________

Not nice ![]() Considering that the threads are not very near each other right now, no reason for you to feel n00bish. Giving her the benefit of the doubt in this thread it gets quickly dashed because someone who's been around three months would by now know that shingled roofs are not made with individual prims (rightclick-edit will reveal the truth). _____________________

Well atm I seriously don't have many clues on most parts of buildings... I've put a couple of unit-ish houses together but they're crappy xD
Maybe I should checkout the place that was mentioned in one of the other threads... Well, anywho... Sorry and have a nice day ![]() |

Shingles on houses are usually done with textures. I have built a few houses with shingles, including my "Shirley's Dreams Challenge House" (shameless plug) that you can get at my house lot in Deneb or on SLBoutique; that's how mine are done. I use shingle textures from Textures R Us (roof06.jpg and roof06r.jpg); they sell it as a roof texture, but I like it on walls. You can get it as part of a roofing texture bundle, or as a single texture from the vendors upstairs at TRU.
The main thing that's difficult about using shingles is texture alignment. A house will typically be made of a number of prims of different shapes and sizes, and as shingles require both horizontal and vertical alignment for the effect to look seamless, you need to adjust them carefully. |

@Jayson You came in a bit late in the "discussion." The heat on Sabrina was because of two threads (this one included) The other one is: /140/9f/126636/1.html And this was the original thread: /140/c3/125330/1.html I think you'll see why Selador and several others, myself included, got mad at Sabrina. Wow, I had no idea. I hadn't seen either of the previous posts. I thought my reply about shingles, the disease, was just a bit of playful fun after an answer to the direct question about a roof-shingle texture had been given. I didn't realize that the question itself was already loaded, and was in very poor taste. I'll definitely think twice next time the urge strikes me to do a play on words. Sensual, if you've been reading this thread at all, sorry to hear of your condition. I hope you get better soon. Please accept my apology if my participation here caused you any hard feelings or any stress of any kind. I had no idea. I feel like such a tool for having fallen into this retrospectively obvious trap. Clearly the intent of the OP here was to rub salt in the wounds from her previous posting, and to sucker more people (like me) into a few wounds of their own. What a dispicable person, really. I'm reporting this thread now, as it falls into the category of reposting after a thread has been closed, which of course is against the rules, even if a little wordplay had been used to mask the thread in ambiguity. Sensual, once again, I hope you recover soon, and sorry this thread happened. _____________________
