One of my tenants has a particle machine and other tools. You may want to see what they do if it matches your needs.
Dreamsand Plaza His machine is right near the LM. Most of the particles that I do I write myself. |

Thanks, I';l check that out. I tried a demo of one particles maker, but it looks like some are missing some commands, and others do not write a full permissions script. And others don;t have a poofer script, on/off ability or such.

"Particle Wizard" created by Darius Lehane is definately worth a look, imo. And well priced for all the benefits and learning opportunities it offers.
Has on/off, full perms scripts, poofers plus infinate possibilites of creating your very own unique particle effects |

that's what i looked at first.. it does look good, but I noticed some other ones included directed particles towards people, and some looked like they had color change or a color gradiant that used more colors then just start and end.

I'm pretty sure that isn't possible... Probably more then one prim spitting out different particles at the same time. _____________________

It is possible. One of my popular products in the past had the effect.

some looked like they had color change or a color gradiant that used more colors then just start and end is entirely possible to do within a single prim ~ using a rapid-fire timer and llFrand() and/or the solution discussed on /54/c1/209705/1.html ...but I noticed some other ones included directed particles towards people... as does "Particle Wizard" The point of these generators, imo, is to bring you up to a point where you no longer need them and are capable of scripting particle effects by visualising in your minds-eye the effect you wish to create, and then coding it yourself. They are not the be-all-and-end-all, but merely learning tools until you progress to more advanced concepts. They are, however, very good for learning but for more advanced/complex/sophisicated effects you'll have to leave the generator behind and rely on what you have learned from using them. ![]() |

ahah, I hadn't considered changing particle parameters with a timer. Of course that would probably work

For the last 2 to 3 months or so the product has repeatedly failed to connect and freezes during use (requiring a forced stop from the Task Manager to end the process). On those small number of occasions when a connection is made, the product is slow, unresponsive and unreliable. Despite numerous attempts to contact the Creator in-game and via. his web site, I have not even received a courtesy acknowledgement. This is a shame because the product was previously easy to use, provided good results and was above all reliable. So, in fairness to any readers of this thread, it is best for me to withdraw my recommendation. |

The tremendous amount of server side lag made the wizard virtually impossible to use over the last few weeks. I still believe in the product and have managed to eek out a few scripts. Seeing it is the easiest one to use by far, I still endorse the product and I have purchased quite a few others. |

...Seeing it is the easiest one to use by far... Yep, was def my favorite of all the Particle Generators I have used. ...but I believe it is an SL issue. Quite possibly server side lag made the wizard virtually impossible to use over the last few weeks I'm not sure that this reallly applies in this case as our sim is largely lag-free, for the most part. have managed to eek out a few scripts Me too, and on the few occasions it was successful, it was torturous. So I've purchased another Generator as I use them daily to do the "leg-work" in particle construction. I still endorse the product If it got back to working as it was when I first trialed it (10 or 11 months ago) and purchased it (8 or 9 months ago), I would too. My biggest upset I think is that the Creator has not responded to any attempted communication either in-game or via. the feedback column on the web-site. And this is what prompted me to withdraw the recommendation, as it would be quite wrong to continuing recommending a product I know is not functioning correctly (for whatever reason) and no support is being provided. But yeah, I agree, when working properly it was a superb product. |

Have you tried the Wizard lately? I seem to have more consistent results and behavior since my last posting. CC |

I have used MeLight Korvin's Particle Script Generator for a while. Its very very easy to use and you can get advanced effects with some practice

I've developed a web-based particle generator. An inworld object supplies the web url with the object communications and you can modify the parameters on the webpage and update the object to see the effect.
To see the web tool visit: http://www.nandnerd.info/particlesystem.php To try out the inworld object visit my Flexi Fun museum in Lasiocampa (landmark in my profile or look up Lasiocampa in the world map). For a copy of the object IM me and I'll fire one off next time I'm in. ![]() _____________________

Debbie Have you tried the Wizard lately? I seem to have more consistent results and behavior since my last posting. CC Using today with admirable results. When working properly, as it currently is, this product is a Joy to use and, imo, head & shoulders above the many other similar products I have used. So, I'm happy again! For a copy of the object IM me and I'll fire one off next time I'm in. Many thanks nand, I'll do that ![]() |
