returned objects for no reason

We had about 29 objects return to inventory for no apparent reason at
SHINDA 245, 180, 27

(see gaping holes)

Very unusual for this to happen. No objects were overhanging at all.
Objects from multiple users - they were not returned by the land owner, who did not log on today at all.

Neighbor reports returning a "tent" from his land earlier today, but doesn't match time of object return which was about 5:00 PM SLT/PST 7-13-06.

Linden please take a look as this could be a very damaging issue to builds.

thanks
Aegif

Aegif, you are not alone.
I get objects returned about once every two weeks from my land where I have plenty of prims available and have "create objects" turned off until I am personally building on it. This has happened to me since beta (over three years)

:(

I lose one railing from my club about once every three weeks...

I think my land is haunted with a ghost.

I have had numerous items returned to me for no reason since this latest upgrade.

I don't know whether this issue's going to be noticed (by the Lindens) in this area of the forums though.

Maybe in Tech Issues or Current Version Feedback..?

I'm off to post there.

Thanks for posting.

This incident is unusual in that it was 29 items at once, about 1/4 of the prims on the parcel.

Odd Object Returns

I occasionally have objects returned from places that I`m sure I`ve never even been to! Yes, I am specifically excluding self-mobile objects.

I have never had this problem till last night. I placed a railing on the edge of my property, it was said it was returned in my lost and found, which it was, but the railing was still showing on screen! I could move it around but not delete it or edit it. I right clicked on it and it said it was ownerless. It was a weird thing, never had this problem before this last update.

I was in a private sandbox just the other day for about 10 minutes, when my build was auto-returned to me. The return time was set to 1440.

I've seen this several times in the distant past. It happens when the object is deleted on the server, but the client doesn't get notified. Packet loss is probably a contributing factor. When it happens, a relog will make it go away.

But I also had something odd happen to me yesterday. I was on group land, but had my active group set incorrectly. Autoreturn was set for 5 minutes. There were about 1600 prims free, but when I rezzed a 600 prim object, it got returned to me before it could even be rendered.

Happens to me in Miramare all of the time. I've had the SLEXchange ATM replaced so many times, I've finally given up. This has been ongoing since last year.

Something's definitely changed. There are now quite a few posts in other forum areas about similar issues since the last update.

See:

A change in temp_on_rez policy is one theory.

And I thought it was just me. I was working on some things this weekend on group land as well, when out of the blue some prims began vanishing and I'd get return notices. I think it was late Saturday.

I've had two buildings completely vanish from one sim that I built - didn't show up anywhere, as far as I can tell. And I was just told by a client that 2/3 of a vineyard that I built for her got returned to her for no apparent reason. She bought it months ago, it was owned by her, and on her property. She is not exceeding prim limits... Go figure...

Makes me glad I keep master backups of everything I build.

I was working on a build in a sandbox and needed to relog. When I got back a minute later everything was supposively returned to me but was NOT in my lost and found folder like the messages claimed! The sandbox was not cleared either, just my stuff. I was very cranky about it cuz I didn't have copies yet, I didn't expect that to happen!! :\

I was working on a jetpack in the Plum sandbox (which allegedly has a 24-hour autoreturn), and I dropped it, unlinked it so I could edit some bits, and BAM like 30 objects came whizzing into my lost and found. The first time time this happened it took me nearly an hour to reassemble the pack. The second time, I made a backup, so I only had to find the prims I had recently changed, and get them installed on the backed-up jetpack.
