How many prims are you using for making hair?

From: Arikinui Adria CONGRATS!
I use the ctrl+L to link all of the prims...that makes them one object since you can only attach one object per point on your body at a given time (and I forget how many prims allowed per point....anyone??? Bueller?). Could that be it??? Just a thought...
~Ari Bingo! You are the best! The more I work on it the more tweaking I see I need to do, lol. I will post a pic when I get more finished with it. Thanks again.

Here's another question. Now that everything is linked I can still edit each part but I can't seem to delete any of them. Or duplicate them. Is there a way?
Later: It's starting to look the way I want it to close up but when I zoom out bald patches appear off and on. Have you seen that?

OK...to mess with individual prims once they are all linked follow these steps: 1. Make a copy of the wig in case anything horrible happens! 2. In the edit menu select Edit Linked Parts, select the prim you want to delete or duplicate 3. Go to Tools in the menu and select Unlink. To delet it, make sure the Edit Linked Parts is NOT selected or it will not let you delete it. 4. Now that prim is no longer part of the rest of the wig you can play with it BUT if you change the parent prim in an objet you will reset the object's info like name, how it should be worn, etc... 5. To reconnect prim(s): Select the individual prim, hold Shift Key down, select the rest of the wig so that it will retain the original info. 6. Ta da! From: someone Later: It's starting to look the way I want it to close up but when I zoom out bald patches appear off and on. Have you seen that? Do you have a hair base? This will ensure there are no bald spots showing when the hair is adjusted properly. Let me see if I can take a snapshot to show you what I mean and I'll post it here (a picture is worth a lot of words I hear)..... Ok...here are some pics of a hairbase I threw together as an example (this is not the ONLY way...it depends on the hair style you are creating, but this one is a good place to start). I use several torus to cover the head (although I highly recommend that you make one that is better aligned than this! LOL). Hope this info helps. Best, ~Ari

Thanks. I don't know how long it would have taken me to find the tool>unlink command. The base for my hair is like the ones in your pictures, but some of the prims were hollow; I solved the balding problem by making them solid again. I have the main part, which is just a simple bun and bangs, done and am now experimenting with flexibly hanging strands in front of the ears etc.

I'm not saying I couldn't have got this far without you. Just that it would have taken a lot longer. Thank you so so much. Here's a picture of me at the beach with my new hair.

Would have never thought about hollowing prims and the whole bald issue! Glad you figured it out!
Well done and it looks wonderful!
Best, ~Ari

From: FD Spark wow thanks for posting this. Kaimi you have inspired me to try to do some of my own hair we joined around the same too if I read your profile. I want to do curly looking long male hair and some punk hair styles. Have fun with it. It seemed to take me a long time to learn to manipulate the prims etc. But then it felt really good when I actually got what I wanted. I hope you'll let us see your new hair styles when they are ready.
