I believe the most faces you can torture a prim into having is 9.

I played with Logan's cut, added a twist and here is a 12 faced prim.... only 9 are texturable.

...also reverting to tube gave me a couple more surfaces to texture, but they just may have been lost in the conversion. I'm having a hard time counting the surfaces, so forgive any mistakes. I think the tube became 11 surfaces, 8 texturable? I included the settings for your compulsive enjoyment.

Am knot! :)

Forgive the change of subject, but now that Torley brought it up... I've seen knots for sale at L$50 each. Is anyone familiar with this double-knot?

Put this 512x512 texture on a cube, that's 840x6 = 5040 faces on one prim.

Double Knots

Okay people. This was a request from Torley so you have her to thank for it.

Basically, how it works. It starts of like a spring shape. Imagine a spring made from a fat tube of white dough. Then you draw a line along the length of this tube of dough. Following that, you start twisting the dough along its length. The line that was drawn would start to spiral as you twist it. At certain points, this line will cross over and form a knot. The advanced cut begin and end function basically takes away the 'dough' leaving only the line behind. I hope that makes sense.

SINGLE KNOT
Prim Type : Torus
Hollow : 90
Skew : 0.95
Twist Begin and End B: -198 E: 270
Hole Size X: 1 Y:0.5
Top Shear X: -0.1 Y:-0.5
Adv. Cut Begin and End B: 0.68 E: 0.70
Taper X: 0 Y: 0
Radius Delta 0
Revolutions 2.74

Size, taper, and shape doesn't affect it much but it can affect how pleasant it looks. Use cut begin and end to shorten or lenghten the 'ribbon'

DOUBLE KNOT
Prim Type : Torus
Hollow : 80
Skew : 0.80
Twist Begin and End B: -360 E: 360
Hole Size X: 1 Y:0.5
Top Shear X: -0.05 Y:0.2
Adv. Cut Begin and End B: 0.18 E: 0.20
Taper X: 1.0 Y: 0.35
Radius Delta 0
Revolutions 4.00

Oh, and one thing. Please keep this a secret. :)
