Aha. When you deleted the unmasked parts, you reduce the number of vertices in the mesh, and make it an unsupported mesh size. That's a terrific technique for regular 3D modeling, but it won't work for SL sculpts. You have to start with one of the supported types of primitives, with no adding or subtracting vertices allowed.

It's aggravating, because there are all those nice techniques one can do with Zbrush that really don't work for SL sculpts (I'd love to be able to do edgeloops, for example). But with some practice, you can find work arounds. To make a shoe sole, I'd import the template texture and colour a plane with it. Then append a supported primitive (such as the cylinder) to it. Click transparent, then you will be able to see through the subtool to the image on the plane and use it as a guide to shape your sole.

Hope that helps!

Whoops! I certainly didn't want to give you the impression you can't use subtools. You absolutely can. In fact, that is the joy of Sculpty Rezzer--you merge the subtools together using subtool master and export the merged objectfile. Then use 2K's exporter to make the sculptmaps, drop them on Sculpty Rezzer and la (Vlad has a much more thorough explanation/tutorial on this over at Shiny Life)

I was talking about using a subtool as a template. I wrote a skull making tutorial that shows how to do that: http://labicyclette.blogspot.com/2008/07/making-skull-in-zbrush.html
The short of it is, put the texture on a plane, append that plane as a subtool to the tool that you will eventually be importing to SecondLife. When you're done with the reference plane subtool, delete it.

As far as how to make shades (sunglasses, correct?), stop thinking of cutting and start thinking of squishing! Take one of the primitives (again, a cylinder would be a good choice) and drop down to a low division level, say 8x9. Then turn on frame so you can see where the vertices are and use the move tool to make a rough outline of the shape you want. Then divide, rough it again, and finally divide to the final division level of 32x33 (or 33x33 for some primitives such as the plane).

Hope all this is making sense!

Well most of above did.
But just to be sure

I CAN mask part of object and click extract to cut it???
if not how with move tool do i make hole???

No cutting!

(hope that was clear :))

Rule number one of making a SL sculpt--you cannot subtract or add vertices. You CAN divide, but only if the final mesh is one that SL can use (so, start with an 8x9 sphere, divide twice, and you will have the right number of vertices)

You CAN use subtools, but each subtool will have its own sculptmap. Merge with Subtool Master, then import using Sculpty Maker, which will automatically create separate sculptmaps.

So, instead of cutting, use your deformations and sculpt brushes to shape the original primitive

Edit: For a hole, you'll need a torus. Start with an H and V divide of 32x32 for that. In SecondLife, you'll need to set the sculpt type as a torus. You'll want to watch this tutorial:
