I didn't use prim torture to create these, they can be duplicated by using only the object pane.

I'm trying to make a library of all the different prims I encounter.

I particularly like the "flowers" with one through eight petals respectively. Might be able to sell some things using hearts and ribbons. The pentagon would be a challenge for anyone to duplicate.

Not sure what you mean, do you mean like this "wreath" in the upper left?

I think these would look good under a jewelcase! The ones that've already been changed from plywood caught my eye.

Woohoo! Twisted Prims. :)

Great job. I would love to your collection in-world. :) I always excited to see what people can do with a single prim.

I have spent more time messing with 'tortured' prims, so it is nice to see someone exploring the possibilities of the standard tools.

^_^ such nice prims. Is that a sphere or a torus Cottonteil (i can tell you have twisted, advanced cut & revolution'ed it)?

I'd like to see how the heart was made, I cannot seem to put my finger on how. Though i recognize all the others.

Wow, that's a lot of really nice prims. One of the things I like about extremely deformed prims is all the streaks and stuff you get with the odd facing polys:

How did you do that?! I just learned how to make a spike fo sorts using a torus and found the twists very interesting...but this shape is amazing!

Sky and Eep,

Sounds like you have the makings of a first rate sl business. As a complete noob builder, I would be willing to pay for a library of unique (odd looking or even common sense everyday) prims that I could integrate into my building efforts. It would be even more enticing if it had instructions on how to make them like Eep has provided in this post.

Please consider me one of your first customers.

These are fantastic! Makes me realize that I need to experiment A LOT more.

Maybe I'll sell the whole library when I have some more. I would probably sell it modify-only, so you can go in and get the parameters for making whatever you want but can't just clone the library and resell.

I'd be willing to pay per prim for just a notecard describing out to get it.

Please put me on your listed of interested people :)

PAY for prim parameters? That's just silly. :P All it takes is some experimentation and anyone can come up with these shapes, but if someone wants something specific made (sculpture, part, shape, etc) that could be different and commissionable. But to charge just for prim parameters? That's just TOO capitalistic (i.e. greedy)...

Greedy? Not at all. It would essentially be a time-saving service... like any other service provided in rl or sl.
It would give builders quick access to a variety of creative possibilities... and free their time to tackle new designs that have not yet been produced.

The concept could be taken a step further by creating a marketplace enabling anyone to create and submit prim shapes for others to purchase.
If the proposed marketplace ran through a database, users of the marketplace could quickly sort and search for various prims according to their preferences.

An automated marketplace would give the sl community an incentive to share their work, save everyone time by creating a point of reference for most previously created prims, and (by extension) lead to more compelling builds...
...leading to more rl interest in sl...
...bringing more capital into LL...
...expediting delivery of Havoc 2 or 3, better rendering engines, and all the other goodies we all desire.

[As a bonus, one could probably chat with the propietors of slexchange, slboutique, or other online marketplaces to have the database built in no time flat]

I agree, It'd be a great time saving service - and educational for beginning builders. Especially considering that there are already people volunteering to pay for the shapes/info. If you prefer not to make it commercial - you could always host classes that explain how to make the shapes...

I hosted a 'Prim Twisting' event & was surprised by the turnout - and mostly beginning builders that were just curious about the basics of using the standard editing tools.

<Lumbergh voice from Office Space>Ummmm, yea...</Lumbergh>

I just don't see it happening. Objects are one thing; single prim shapes are another. Hell, just use Strife's (BlindWarrior on LSLWiki) prim torture script to get a random prim shape and its parameters. I just can't see someone being stupid enough to pay for a single prim shape when all it takes is a bit of "prim dorking" to come up with these shapes... Sure, not everyone's creative enough, I guess (not really--anyone can do it if they put their mind to it), but I think for someone to actually CHARGE for a single prim shape is just sleazy. Hell, most of what's for sale in SL is sleazy, but I won't have any part of that. Note this: anyone selling an individual prim's parameters I will create free versions. You can't copyright a single prim's parameters!

I don't like capitalism. I don't like greed. I don't like paying for things. I like open-source. I like sharing. I like collaborative existence.

Good omniverse, now a prim torture CLASS? <eyeroll> It's REALLY not that difficult! Just dork with the parameters! Geez...it ain't theoretical physics--hell, it ain't even Newtonian physics. It's barely even geometry! It's just curiousity and experimentation and certainly nothing a class is needed for...

Now, a basic building class is different, and perhaps "advanced" prim torture could be a part of that, but a WHOLE class JUST for prim torture? That's just silly.

Eep, I don't see anything wrong or silly with it. Look at it like a cheat sheet for quickly remembering how to do certain shapes rather than the actual shapes being sold.
