Lost a tiny prim

I need a vacuum cleaner!

I just constructed a *really* tiny prim. Much smaller than .01m. I knew as soon as I got out of edit mode and it wasn't highlighted I'd lose it, and I did. I can't find it.

Any suggestions? I don't want to return all objects on my land because that includes my house, and I already had to re-place that today :-) I also tried "show" in the objects tab of my property, and this has worked for tiny prims before, but it's not showing this one, and I know approximately where it is.

Since I'm going to do this again, is there an easy way of finding tiny prims?

In Edit Mode, keep the left mouse button clicked and select all the area were the object is located. It should be highlighted as soon as in enclosed in the area.

Thanks, I found it!

Funny story? My house is a skybox. I've had to re-place it today because I right-clicked one of these tiny objects and selected "take", except that I was focused in so close I didn't realize I right-clicked the house rather than the object. As soon as I exited edit mode I started my plunge to the ground :-)

I might suggest that when you work on these very tiny objects, you first lock all the surrounding objects, and keep "select only movable objects" turned on. That way, if you lose selection on the little primicule, you can just draw a selection box to reselect without having to worry about selecting other things. As long as the little one is the only thing not locked, it will be the only thing you can select.

You've also got the added protection that locked objects cannot be deleted (unless deliberately unlocked first), so you won't have to worry about killing your house again.

Great tip, I didn't know that.

*Laughs*

I did that once! Accidentally took a skybox back into inventory, instead of the pose ball I had intended to take, and found myself hovering at 700M up, amid a collection of floating furnishings.

What I did was I didn't try to move, and I located the darned thing in my inventory, then rezzed it on the top of one of the pieces of furnishings, while still in edit mode. Then I was able to reposition it under myself, without falling, using the doors and furniture as reference points for where it should have been. If there is floating furniture near you, you can also sit on one of those while you put the box back in place.

And yes, I keep the main part locked now, unless I am actively editing the skybox itself!

The joys of living and working in the sky!
