I had a question, I made something a little too big and scaled it down as far as I could (sliding it down) but it still is too big. I could rebuild the two sections that are too big but before I do I was wondering if there is a way to scale down more? How far can you go aside from sliding it down?
I've seen people have things up on their stores that are as intricate in detail as what I build, but HUGE. Bigger than life. Then they have the product in their store scaled down to the exact right size. My item was much smaller, maybe 1 time bigger than it actually should be, yet when I scaled down the size, it still is too big. This is just something that confused me. Maybe someone can help me out or answer this. Thanks.

Linked objects will scale down and be limited by the smallest prim dimension within the link set. The smallest dimension that is allowable is 0.01m in any direction.
Let's say you link a cube that is 1 x 1 x 1m to a 'plank' that is 1 x 1 x 0.02m and you try to shrink it. You will find that it will only go down to half its size, because the 0.02m in the plank can only go down to 0.01m.
To make it go smaller, one of the things you can do is make the smallest things within the set a bit larger using 'edit linked parts'. For the above example, you can increase the thickness of the plank to 0.05m, which then allows you to shrink it to 1/5th its size.

or could I just attach some small prim to my entire project, scale it down and then remove that prim?

Oops. I think you misunderstood. Its the small prims within your group of prims that is limiting you from shrinking it more.
You can enlarge the smallest ones a little to alleviate the problem, or remove them altogether and add them back later on as details.

You don't WANT small prims, you are just LIMITED by them - prims will only go just so small. If you make your smallest prim bigger you'll be able to resize the whole thing smaller - since it won't hit the limit as quickly.

If you are trying to make very small or detailed stuff, especially if you need to use any of the advanced techniques for making prims appear tiny, you will probably be better off building at real size right from the start. There are some difficulties with the camera when you zoom in to a really small build, but at least you'll know the limits of your size options the whole time you're building, rather than running into brick walls only at the end of 5 days hard slog. And as long as you don't need to scale any prim up above 10x10x10m, scaling your jewellery up for display vendor purposes is much easier than scaling it down.

What everyone else said - use 'edit linked parts' to select the individual prims. If one of them is at 0.01m in one direction, it won't go any smaller, and so neither will the linked set. Fatten it up a bit - it'll look out of proportion but then you can scale the whole lot down some more. When it's the size you want you can reduce the prim(s) to 0.01m again if they're not already that small.
