Animation Synchronisation

Hello,

I just bought from SLX some 'full perm' animations to use both here and in my opensim. However, when I unpacked the package I found that the poseballs and animations were full perm, but the synchonisation script, that makes then 'work' was no-mod, so I cannot transfer the script using SI.

Oh well, just put this down to inexperience I suppose.

My question is: are the synchronisation scripts for couple animations (kissing, cuddling, that sort of thing) generic (and if they are, where can I get hold of sample scripts), or are they very specific to the animations they are synchronising?

They are not complicated animations, the movements are barely perceptible, not like a complex couple dance.

Any pointers are most welcome,

Vi

I have usedTrullu Oh's Synchronized Pose Balls script v2.5, available at http://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=262591 . Otherwise, you might want to look at Noble Barnes' script here /54/fc/235910/1.html

I've also written my own script for doing it, which I can't post because it was for a paying customer, but if no one else posts a better one and you need some help, I'll do what I can.

I do not understand why you think you cannot transfer the poseballs you bought. The scripts are no-mod becaise the author does not want you to modify them, not becaise they do not want you to distribute them.

Have you tried to distribute them? If they have both copy and transfer permissions, you can sell them.

But no-mod prevents Second Inventory ("SI";) from backing up scripts, as I understand it, presumably on the basis that if you can back them up you can read the contents. This means it's no good for transferring to another grid using that method.

In answer to the specific question, in general a synchronised animation script is pretty generic, at least if it's for simple animations.

In general, the principle is that when someone sits down on one poseball it gets animation permissions, puts the avatar into a holding animation and sends a link message to the other poseball that it's now in use. When it gets a reply from the other poseball that it, too, is in use, the main, couples animations are triggered for both of them.

Then when someone gets off, as well as stopping animations and so on, the poseball sends an appropriate message to the other ball, which reacts accordingly.

That's one way to do it, anyway -- there are others.

No guarantees, obviously, but I'd be a bit surprised if, with minimal adjustments, you can't get your paired animations to work with either of the two sets of scripts I mentioned.
