From: Escort DeFarge But I didn't do that! LOL
I just re-read what I posted (to make sure) and my "big picture" point is that event scheduling in general seems to be the issue - which affects a lot more than llSetTimerEvent().
best, /esc Sorry if my post was taken the wrong way. I meant it as more a general statement to everyone. I realize that you are just pointing out some of the differences that appear to be worse off than LSL. One thing I want to add though, I have been around in SL since it's beta launch ages ago, though I didn't stick around after it went live. I was able to witness first hand SL in its infancy, and then later returning (about a year after) to see how much it had grown. I have stuck around since my return and seen many features changed, adjusted, and added. Every single time they tweak something, or add something, a lot of people freak out because it works a little differently than they are used to. However, like all new additions, with a little time and tweaking, they get ironed out and in the end, become pretty dang awesome. I think with Mono, it is still in its infancy as far as implementation, and it will take them a little while to smooth out the bumps. It is important to note though, that it is not just LL's ability to smooth out the new feature functionality, but the combination of that and the residents ability to adapt and learn how to use it more efficiently that will make it better in the end. We get stuck into the mind set of using loopholes and work arounds to overcome some of the limitations of SL. Then when they make a change so that we no longer have to do that, people get a little scared because their work-a-rounds are no longer necessary so naturally they don't work as well. I think it will take a few months (minimum) to figure things out with Mono, and find the new work-a-rounds and loopholes. Once we do, it will likely be 100 times more efficient and less load on Sims in general to use Mono for scripting.

With respect Little Ming - there is no "workaround" for bad *platform* performance. I think you read the perceived tone here and not the content? I for one am not "freaking out". I'm trying to nail what's wrong so it can be fixed - as you say this happens as a community effort (whether it *should* work like that is another issue). LL say that SL is no longer "beta software". I would therefore either expect releases that are production quality OR for LL to admit that SL is continual beta software and that should concommitantly inform them/us how much money we give them for their service. Frequently over the years I've just logged out for months on end and waited for LL/SL to get sorted out rather than share the pain. I may yet take that course again. /esc

From: Escort DeFarge LSL stores... 55 records in 1677 ms ==> 30.49ms per record
MONO stores... 252 records (gain of 458%/208%) in 9454 ms ==> 37.52 ms per record
In the latest beta grid, looks like we got a speed bump (esp. LSL!!!! my cynical side informs me this may be a **de-throttle** !??!???!!!) LSL stores... 55 records in 836 ms ==> 15 ms per record MONO stores... 248 records in 6382 ms ==> 26 ms per record I have now officially given up trying to understand what's going on. /esc

...and just to prove I'm not all doom and gloom, a certain well-known cryptographic signature algorithm goes from... Under LSL => 10852 ms Under MONO => 111 ms ...which brings it into the usable range (however forgive me if I observe that this performance bonus equates to a factor of around 100, not 200, 1000, or more) /esc
