From: Dragger Lok ok as long as the scripts are no mod they can be copied as many times without an issue and just make it no transfer- that way every item can be rezzed a gazillion times ..... what am i missing? what is the issue? The issue, as I understand it, is that the OP would like to be able to put the scripts into objects that are themselves no mod. This would enable people to construct and furnish a holodeck, for themselves, using all the copyable items of furniture they own, and not just those that are copy/mod, to create a variety of easily accessible interiors to suit different moods and occasions.

This was the original complaint: "Now, the problem with these Holodecks is, all items in a "scene" have to be Mod and Copy, because on derezzing a scene, all prims are actually destroyed instead of being returned to ones Inventory. This greatly limits their use in SL, because not many designers are willing to make their creations Mod and Copy." The original complaint was that items needed to be mod and copy- which is not true, items in a rezzer can be no mod and no transfer. But they have to be copy that's all...

But if you can't put scripts in because they're no mod, the rezzer becomes difficult -- though not impossible -- to use, for the reasons rehearsed in this thread. That is, you have to make the rezzer remember where each item is to be rezzed (and to move around if you want to rez them more than 10 metres from the where the rezzer starts) and you have to delete them all manually when you want to change the scene. Whereas if you put a script in each item you want to rez, that pretty much automates the process for the end user.

Innula: I think Dragger was assuming the holodeck was loaded only by the vendor.
Dragger: You need mod if you want to load the Holodeck with stuff it didn't come with.

As others in this thread have pointed out, you can certainly build a basic rezzer that creates objects in predetermined spots and leaves them alone. You wouldn't need a script in those objects at all. You do any post-rez editing or removal manually. That's the type of rezzer I was thinking of in my first reply ... certainly not as fancy as some, but quite functional.

Yeh, I was thinking the same at the start of this thread (see my comment about the shop rezzer I use). After I "got" the point about being able to change from one scene to another automatically I saw that wasn't really adequate.

Dragger: You need mod if you want to load the Holodeck with stuff it didn't come with. ... was musing what the op had in mind and it turned out not to be the case, the op was confused over perms thinking it had to be "mod copy" but left out the fact that it did not have to be mod and it sure as hell could be no transfer.
