In a nut shell I have made a cat. You know the prim kind we see everywhere in sl. They dont do anything.
Well i have a big fat do nothing cat so i figured his likeness would be great as one of these cats.
I have a good "meow" wav that i imported and am using a simple playsound command as the loop is annoying and you would kill me. What i would like is for the meow to occur at random intervals and for no particular reason.
Just like my fat cat does. No joke sometimes he's laying in the hall for days and i hafta nudge him to see if he is deceased. at which point he randomly meows his disdain for me bothering him buddha like meditation.
anyhow any help is greatly appreciated!

Basically just use a randomised Timer Meow() { llTriggerSound("Meow",1.0) // next trigger is betweeen 1 and 6 minutes away llSetTimerEvent(60 + (integer)llFrand(300)); }
default { state_entry() { Meow(); }
timer() { Meow(); } }

IT was missing a semi-colon Meow() { llTriggerSound("Meow",1.0); // next trigger is betweeen 1 and 6 minutes away llSetTimerEvent(60 + (integer)llFrand(300)); }
default { state_entry() { Meow(); }
timer() { Meow(); } }
Works fine now

From: LeVey Palou new gate thanks for the response. I am getting an error right at where the 11set timer line starts. I appologise to all but i am not understanding why. Sorry, comes from scripting directly into the forum rather than Scite-Ez! And of course it gives Jesse something to do....

Jesse and Newgy will "get" it.]

two more questions about the cat...
11-13-2006 09:12
Good morning Guys,
Okay, since you guys are having way too much fun with this I figured I would ask two more questions in my quest for the perfect cat...
1) My fat cat can usually be seen doing one of three things at any given time. Sitting in front of his food bowl, staring at it (which is what my sl fat cat does now). Or he's asleep lying on his back with his paws in the air like a dead possum...this is usually where i nudge him to see if i need to call animal services yet. Or lastly he is licking himself.
So I would like some advice or input about rezzing different versions of him so that at any given time one of three versions will be showing. I have seen holovenders that toggle between the merchandise they sell so i think this should be possible. And I would like it to be a random thing...kinda like my cat : )
the other thought is on rotation or movement. I.E., him licking himself. It involves the head movement. I can set his head on a rotaion but the head spins around like the exorcist kitty and until next halloween this doesnt work. Is there a way to make something rotate while facing the same direction along its rotation path?
BTW when fat cat is complete i promise all kinds of credit to you guys for making it possible. So far the meowing-food-bowl-staring version rocks!
Thank you guys.

Yeah, but those are tougher problems. Especially the animation issue.
As far as rezzing three different versions of him, one at a time, I think that you might be better off making one version that does all three things at different times.
