This is where pictures from the SLCC can go. In the meantime, I'll post the logo and a picture of the in-world kiosk.

that logo is PERFECT!

i can only hope that'll be on the front of the shirts that have been previously mentioned, yes?

ps - i'm still working on the nametags. have the backs done, but may improve them. working on front templates. should i try to include the logo (style?) in the design?

Just got home from an absolutely fabulous weekend at the SLCC. I had an awesome time, and it was so great being able to put faces to names and meet some of my dearest SL friends.

I'll post a few generic photos but I'm not going to identify anyone. If they're so inclined, people can do that themselves :)

The first one is a room view of a portion of the upstairs balcony at Off the Wagon. Everyone you see there is somehow associated with SL, either as a resident or as a Linden. I'm sure you'll recognize one particular Linden over on the right. :D

The second shot shows what happens when a bunch of Second Lifers gathers around a pool table. You just knew someone would have to do it :p The pool table was a little worse for wear by the end of the night, having absorbed a few liquids!

The last shot is a portion of the main conference room on Sunday. A second room was in operation for a good part of the day too, with a great selection of presentations to choose from.

Kudos to all the organizers and sponsors for putting together a great event in what has to be some sort of record time frame! I can't wait for next year :)

I hope that it's okay if I post a couple of pictures of my small contribution to the in-world conference area. I think that maybe our builds will be taken down very soon, so having a few picures here will help keep our work alive for a little while. :)

My build isn't as grand as all the others, but I had a lot of fun making it. The Marina was the telehub location for Fortuna and it is based on my home at the Isle of Milk. It featured a working drawbridge, a waterfall, and a lighthouse. The steel and glass Footbridge was an entirely new build made just for the convention. It served as a welcome to attendees arriving by boat and provided access by foot to a beautiful park at the top of the mountain.

The last picture is my way of saying thanks to the conference organizers, both in world and in NYC. Thank you Hiro for allowing me to participate in this project, and to all of the collaborators for their wonderful work, their encouragement, and their friendship. Great job everyone!

I do not believe that it is possible to be any other way with you Torley :)

Here is one more picture just for you!

For those that do not know, we had trouble maintaining a constant video stream from the real-world convention. Each time the video would freeze, certain unnamed among us would vigorously protest by holding up signs, slinging all manner of items at the big screen, and even beating upon the frozen image with a giant hammer. Torley provided the juiciest protest in the form of her Watermelon Rockets. And, I am told that this display was definetely noticed by Philip as he was able to see the whole thing on a large monitor in NY.

watermelons and inspiration
10-10-2005 16:14
yes.. we all giggled IRL over watermelons hitting the frozen video screen of Phillip enough for him to turn around and wonder what was so funny.. :)

A great time was had by all.. no doubt about it and I think left those of us that attended very jazzed up about the future of SL and many a gear spinning on how we can contribute to it. :)

Can't wait till next time!

Just two - some chickies that came upstairs and were probably wondering what the hell all the nametags were about, and a great waitress at the Red Lion. :)

April Firefly's Pix from SLCC
10-20-2005 19:45
The best part of SLCC was talking about SL with other real life people and not being looked at with that like "huh, is this real life or a game" look.

After showing my pix in world, which felt like the best environment, here they are on my website:

http://aprilfirefly.com/SLCC_Pix/

I have a little Powershot SD200 and I think it took great pictures in both the conference and the nightclub.

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?
