The two attachments show exactly the same object, taken from exactly the same position. In 1 the shiny lines up properly, in 2 it doesn't (it's the join between a sphere and the inside curve of a torus of the same radius). 1 was taken immediately after moving the torus and Ctrl-Z moving it back. After a couple of seconds it reverts to the broken 2.

Sometimes when the camera is seeing the torus for the first time it is correct again (looks like 1) then reverts to 2 after a couple of seconds.

The correct code is there... but it's not being applied consistently...

LOD difference, one is dropping it's poly count and therefore changing the angle of it's surface and the how the shiny overlay is offset.

Are you sure about that? The polys themselves look exactly the same in both...

I may have seen this before. Unable to reliably repro it at the moment but if I get it down to a science, I'll post again. Definitely one of those "Best described in pictures" instances.

Same bit of code no doubt, though that one was affecting cylinders. This only seems to be affecting tori (or maybe tubes etc, I haven't checked).
