I just noticed that shiny seems to work differently in 1.7. I was at my house checking out the new release and noticed that my walkways (Blanc Noir Skylife) no longer have a continuous look to them. If you look at the attached pic, you can see the ‘line’ that goes from one end to the other that defines the gradient is now angled causing multiple shiny objects all in a row to look like pieces. I can not seem to change the angle by changing my view either. Anyone else noticed this and is it on purpose?

Yupyup shiny has been changed look in the archives of the Version 1.7 Feature Feedback dept. and do some searches and you'll notice pasts posts on it too.

Here's an example:

Thanks Torley for the link, but it does not explain what I am talking about. In the attached pic you can see 6 prims, two boxes side by side, two cylinders on thier side, side by side and two half cylinders side by side to make a full one. On the first set and the third set the gradient flows well between the two objects, but in the middle one they are well 'crooked' that's the issue I'm talking about....

p.s - after some playing it seems it is off by about five degrees and the slope does not depend on the size of the object.

I'll quickly say I ran a quick test and got the same results that you did. "Crooked shiny"! Hmmm file a bug report, that sure doesn't look right to me.

Maybe you could grief live help about it and then bitch to the hotline about their attitude in responding.

Seems to work for others with the same issue ;)

And while I'm at it, could the JPEG compression for postcards please be improved? :)

Yes, I saw that. If it had been me responding, I would have been tempted to kick him up the arse.

i had just gotten interested in said person's work through torley's blog... was a little disappointed to see such immature and rude behavior.

Some of the hotline posts disgust me (the post we are discussing here is HARDLY the worst).
