My build was a neo-classical design based on the Pantheon in Rome. I'll post pics if people are still interested when I can. My reason for choosing the design and the textures I used, was that I surveyed the Linden buildings already in the sim and tried to make mine cohesive with them, but providing a large central space.
The winning build looks professional, very fit-for-purpose and a lot more detailed than mine, congrats to them.

firt of all, congrats to the winners.. awesome job guys!! i look forward to perusing the build in-world. second, everyone else.. i look up to all of you as inspiration. you had the gumption to go for it, not knowing what you were up against.. but still, you gave it what you had and that's worth quite a lot! also, Foolish.. love your build, it would look great in the city! unfortunately, there's no open land and my land is too small, even if i was willing to sell my last of four Miramare parcels.. anyhoo, hopefully they'll "uncover" a couple addition sims someday where you could go ahead and give a home to that tower. maybe it could serve as an LL comissioned build of another type? Caliandris, i can't speak for everybody, but i'm sure most will agree.. please show us your build! we would love to see what your imagination churned out just as much as we've been impressed with the rest. (i'd enter a building contest, but just ask Marcos F. about my timing on that.. lol)

Wow, awsome work everyone. I love seeing what different concepts people come up with based on the same idea. Always interesting. Sam, I really like the A one of your set, looks really cool. Caliandris, I want to see it if you'd want to show it!

Okay boys & girls... here's what Champie Jack and I came up with: Here is a bird's eye view of the center comprised of the main meeting area, underwater secondary meeting area and six discrete areas (on land) for kiosks and video screens: The landing point for the Linden Lab Recruiting Center would have brought a resident to the Welcome Kiosk with a directory and info on the Recruiting Center: A short path would have led a resident to the main meeting area. Here's a day shot: And a night shot: The main meeting area had an inlaid Linden Lab logo graphic in the marble and a holographic plywood cube spinning slowly above the center: Two small staircases would have led down to a mostly enclosed meeting area on the lower level with two arched foundations opening to the cove. One of the staircases would have led to an underwater secondary meeting area and, still lower, a small kiosk-sized area with pillars and undersea plantings: Back above ground, there would have been six small separate areas for kiosk-type info: This was a fun challenge with an interesting parcel to work with. My hat goes off to all the participants for a job well done. Looking forward to the next opportunity! Doh! Here's a landmark if you want to see the model mockup and full-size kiosks we did. It's in Rodeo up at about 615 meters. Salazar Jack's & Champie Jack's Proposed Recruiting Center

From: Sam Portocarrero Anyway, as promiced, here are my 3 submissions. I really like all of your submissions, Sam. I think they'd make really good stage areas for classes/stage 4 etc (I presume that still exists? havent been near the welcome area in a looong time!).

I didn't know who to root for! Very good stuff, glad you posted your pictures. With the exception of Barnesworth who made a very nice prototype but is a lazy ass.

Congrats to the winners!
All the designs were so creative, and all seem to be closer to the winning "style" than what I submitted (if my submission was even counted - I never received any confirmation from Pathfinder, and I IM'ed and e-mailed asking him if I submitted satisfactorily). I would have had an awfully hard time choosing, had I had to (but it would have been fun to have been asked to help jury).
I have included a few pics of what I came up with.
I am looking forward to seeing more design competitions such as this in the future.

Congrats to the winners. I ended up not finishing my submission in time, but now I'm glad. Your design is much better than what I had in mind. Wonderful job, really. To everyone else, I haven't seen a single picture I didn't like. It's so nice to be a part of such a wonderful, artisitic community. Great work, all.

Salazar and Champie, awsome work, I really like your design. Looks very nice and went along well with the theme of the area. I like the sitting by the light views, very cool.
Kris, you're right they would make good "stages". Stage 4 is no longer there however, the new WA has its center point right where it used to be (at the 4 corners). There are still stages in Plum/Lime/Blue?/Grey?, and De Haro if memory serves correct.

Oh! I remember now, I'm too lazy... not enough time... the tiles are back-order... LOL

I'm really impressed by the variety of submissions. Foolish Frost, your tower was very nice-- needs to be used for SOMETHING. I had about 1 day notice on this (busy busy), so had to put together something fast as a basic submission package. Here's a coupla photos of my submission:
