Picture Contest - You can be Royalty!

Procyon Games next month will release a Deck of Playing Cards. This ordinary deck of 52 cards comes with HUDs for the players, and is fully scripted with generic commands that let you shuffle, deal cards, play and pass them between players. You can use the deck to play just about any regular card game.

I'll be making my own texture for the cards, and for the face cards I'd like to use pictures of SL residents. Would you like to be a face card? I'll pick 12 winners to be the royalty in this deck. Here's how you can enter:

1. Submit a pic to Snapzilla with the words "Face Card" in the title. Make sure the description has the name of the subject, and which card you would like to be, if you have a preference. You can find out more about Snapzilla here: http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/how.aspx

2. Reply to this thread, attaching your picture to your reply. Again, make sure you include your preference for which card you want (Jack, Queen, or King of Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, or Clubs).

You can be standing or seated, but you should be in profile or 3/4 view. Photoshopping is OK, but the source should be from SL.

You get bonus points for dressing up as royalty.

The contest will run until November 14, when I will announce the winners. Each winner will receive two decks of cards. All winners will be credited in the card documentation.

Seriously. LL needs to put the classifieds section infront of the content creation because most people that aren't very clever think that advertisements belong with the creation of content.

I've had some people ask for clarification on a couple points, so let me add a couple things:

Your portrait needs to fit on a playing card, so it should be in about that aspect ratio. I can crop it if it's off by a little bit.

I need to see at least down to your waist -- no close-up portraits. And you should be sitting or standing.

Yes, the contest is easier for guys than gals, since there's only 4 Queens but 8 Kings and Jacks. Sorry, girls

Here you go, Rifkin. My attempt at making a Jack of clubs picture for you. I included two. I preferred the outdoors one myself but realized the sunset in the background might have washed things out some.

Here is my shot Ace is gonna send in one too, can we be in the same suit if picked? Pref hearts Left some white on the sides for you to crop to the right size.

Wow, im going to have to pick up a set of these cards, however you should consider doing a few decks with different themes to them; id prefer not to have sl avatar photos on a deck.

Ok Eva... here it goes... putting in my facial shot for Queen for a day. Have to love the games and seeing I play them... why not try out for this And my all time request is to be a Queen of Diamonds after all it is my birthstone.

Jesseaitui... you say you want cards without SL avatars on them? Then, what should the face cards be?

Regular like in RL would be cool. Or if you did different themes for instance "star wars" you could use star wars character faces

Personally if you had dif sets out id pick up the classic cased set. But thats just me


And im not against your idea of having sl avatar faces, I think its cool to give the community a chance to be involved with things. I just would less prefer that deck

I would like to be Queen of Hearts, but any Queen would be just great. It's a wonderful contest Rifkin!

No preference on suit, but since I am wearing a black dress probably clubs or spades would be best.

Diabolocal, can you do another pic that's not so close up? It'll look better if all the cards have roughly the same framing.

Jesseaitui, a "regular" card deck would be nice, but that would mean copying someone else's card texture, and I'm not willing to do that. There's a free "gnu" texture out there, too, but that one's not-for-resale. If you've got a texture you think would look good, or can draw one, I'm happy to turn it into face cards...

We took 2 shots of me.....one for Jack and one for King. Pick whichever you wish. We have no preference for suit(s).

Hey how about having the cards depending what they are choose their picture randomly. So there can be variations and not always the same old picture on each and every single same type of the card.

Molly, nice pic! But I wanted to restrict the portraits to the traditional face cards in a standard deck of playing cards. I'm afraid if I put pictures on all the cards it'll be a little too busy and make it hard to play with. This will be a real, functioning deck of cards you use to play your own games with.
