Here's a couple of screenshots of a new skin I just finished (and will be releasing soon) in my cave in Freelon. I felt like doing something a little different :)

hehe, it needs a little bit of seam touchup yet and then I'll turn it loose on the world. Here's one more shot.

Very cool! I especially love the ripples on the skin surface.

...Holy Sheebishnu. That notonly looks incredible, but it's ripe for jokes and allusions to being made of water! Great fun. Should be interesting to see what a skilled flexiprim builder will make with this come '.1.

Is that hole part of the skin? You so totally need to make a hole using an invisiprim and put some actual moving gears in, it'd look rad. :p :D

Cool work BTW. :)

Right now it's part of the skin. I'm just testing out some ideas. Doing moving parts with an attachment is something I definitely plan to experiment with, but I have my doubts about it looking convincing.

There will probably be a female version of this one as well, though I'm not 100% certain. The steps involved in creating this are quite a bit more complex than with the water skin so it might end up harder to replicate. I want to do several more cutouts that reveal mechanical details inside. :)

Animated texture on a plane inside maybe?

Do it, please!

Of course, I say this because I have a thing for gears, and I'm on a corroded metal kick right now.

That's the plan :) I'm rendering a test animation of the gears to try right now. I'll let you know how it works out.

Okay, here it is with the hole as an animated texture overlay on a prim attached to the spine. It's works quite well, though the imperfections of frame based texture animation make the hole jump around a little bit. It's a 24 frame loop so it looks like continuous rotation. All in all it looks pretty damn cool. :D

Hey, really cool looking - good work. Is that just on the surface or actually inside?

It's on the surface. The hole texture includes the hole bevel, interior background, and gears. The shadowing makes it look like a hole even though it floats a bit over the chest (since the attachment is flat while the chest is curved slightly). It looks more convincing than I thought it would.
