From: Goyan Luchador That's true Dianne, you could probably guess pretty easily what is in the pic, but really, some people are able to see a 3D image within the pattern. I could'nt see these at all for a long time, until one day, it just "clicked", and I was amazed at what suddenly appeared. This particular pic shows two dolphins, a larger one above and a smaller one below. Try to relax your eyes, by simply gazing off center til they are almost out of focus, and just let it happen. Well I don't know if there is any science to back me up, but I still maintain that some (like myself), cant perform whatever trick is required. I can do the cross-eyed thing on command and have excellent vision. I also discern colours finer than most, great focal range etc. but after 10 or 15 years of trying I have never seen anything but a bunch of smudgy stuff in those pictures.

I had trouble with the blue one on the first page, the race car or whatever. I could only see it in reverse, like it was recessed. Or is that how it's supposed to be?
Oh great, I've gone and blinded myself again.

From: Ferran Brodsky looks like a formula 1 race car to me You don't think the name "aircar.jpg" means it may not be a forumula 1 car.. unless F1 cars fly Perhaps I'm not up on F1 cars to know they have jet-like engines at the front and back. Dunno. It's possible Looks like this: http://seekers.100megs6.com/FlyingCars/_354367_m400_300.jpg PS: "You dumb bastard, it's not a schooner, it's a sailboat"

The trick to viewing these is the dots at the top, or if there aren't any, the pattern at the top. Then you just have to be able to lock your focus and not let your eyes refocus on their own. You have to focus your eyes about 6 inches behind the monitor for most of these. Doing that will make the two dots look like four. Then you try to focus on the two dots in the middle of the group of four, and when they come together you see three dots, but DON'T try to look at the ones on either side. At this focus, you can only see them with one eye each.
Never look at the left or right of one of these images until you have the whole image locked.
If you don't follow that... Try this: Focus on your monitor here, then hold up one finger between it and your eyes. Keep focusing on the monitor but be aware of your finger. That awareness will be of two ghostly fingers you can seem to see through. One will be more solid than the other. That is an idication of which of your eyes is dominant. (You can close one eye to see which finger vanishes, the most solid finger vanishing means you closed your dominant eye. If you make a circle with your fingers then look at a particular word on the screen through the hole then close one eye, you cna get the same result. The eye that makes the word move is your dominant eye.)
But for the steroscopic images, it's a two part thing to get them. First you have to force your eyes to focus behind where you know the surface to be, blurring the image like your held up finger. Witht he two dots, you get 4 images. THEN you have to try and focus even farther out where those middle two dots "actually" are... To bring them into focus. Once there, the top edge of the stereogram below will also be in focus, and you can shift your attention to that, then out into the rest of the image.
Even then, it can be difficult depending on the quality of the image. Goya's word ones are probably the hardest ones here, since they have little flat space and lots of parallel vertical lines. The dolphin one is, I think, the easiest so far. Try with that one.

I imported some stereograms into SL and they worked just fine, so maybe we will be seeing a few of these inworld as a result of the attention this thread is bringing to stereograms.

Hi Suzeanne, I had'nt realized you had started a thread on this back in May, and by weird concidence you started with the exact one that I found on the net! Glad to meet you and all the other stereogram afficionados!! I knew y'all were out there somewhere lol! I can't wait to try some as textures in-game! To Roseann! This has been my favorite so far too! When you go into the Pteradactyl in full screen, you really feel like your inside of it!
Question: Does anyone know how to make their own stereograms on a home pc? What software is needed? Thanks!

I swear I see Hawaiian people in traditional dress paddling a canoe in Loki's - however my brain works overtime.
