The day has finally come.
Almost one year after the crash that ended the 2005 edition (you can find the whole tale here) the day has come.
Today i'll drive the first leg of the 2006 edition of my drive around the world. Then, once a week i'll drive a new leg, the goal being driving on all the roads of the SL grid.

The grid is full of interesting and beautiful builds and sights, and posting the pictures of my trip here i'll have a good way to show such beauty and (possibly) encourage exploration outside of the usual places. There's so much to see and so little time!
So stay tuned, the pictures of the first leg will be coming soon :)

Musashi Motorsports Drive Around the (SL)World, Leg 1, Introduction.
07-21-2006 18:09
My mechanics have just finished tuning up the brand new Musashi Motorsports Zero GTX, and the engine roars like a lion ready to dash. The time has finally come as I do the last checks on my Test Yard in Bruin, that will be the starting place of the first leg.

My Race Queen for the day is Nadia Tempura, she's beautiful, isn't it? Her spotless dark skin and lavender eyes are a perfect match for the race queen outfit of the team.

The route for the first leg is not overly complex, i will drive east from Bruin to the intesection in Hartwick, where i'll continue east to Wakeley. There i'll turn south on the long Wakeley/Gobegic lake bridge. I'll continue south to the double intersection in Bear, where i'll turn east across the bridge and towards the goal, in Pero.

Musashi Motorsports Drive Around the (SL)World, Leg 1, Part 1

As i'm ready for the start, Nadia wishes me good luck.

And it starts, quickly stepping on the gas pedal i shift up , building speed on the road towards Cavanaugh.

In Cavanaugh i get greeted by a cute roadside garden...

A Dominus Shadow, undoubtly the best car in Second Life, is parked gracefully in Ironjaw.

As soon as i enter Hartwick i see an incredible japanese style build, floating on some rocky structures that kind of remind me of someo old videogame... i just don't remember wich one...

As i enter Wakeley i find Neo Virgo's car shop on my left, displaying all sorts of dream cars.

Speeding on the long bridge that crosses the big south-eastern lake in Wakeley, i'm greeted with the sight of some very elegant apartment on my right.

At the end of the bridge i can glimpse a waterfront castle in Nestor.

After a few more minutes of driving the road sinks in a beautiful green valley in Thayer...

I hit the brakes hard as soon as i see a school crossing in Chicagon... now i wonder where the school is, though...

Resouming the course i speed forward in Chicagon, to be greeted by a London bus on a roof (!?)

In bear i find a nice fortres, with a cruiser (?!) floating on the background...

As I approach the goal, i speed over the wooden river bridge of Bear, with a luxorious mansion on the other side.

And i finally reach the goal! The first leg is done.
I can finally relax as the GTX (that performed like a charm) is loaded on the truck by my mechanics. The lag wasn't that bad, since many of the sims i crossed were relatively new.

It's all for today, stay tuned next week for the second leg :)

Very cool, I was working in my park when you stopped to take a picture, thought about introducing myself but then you drove off so I figured you had stopped for some random reason - now I know why.

Have a great evening.

Oh this is cool, I'm glad to see you doing the tour of SL again :D

Maybe you could post the time/locations when you start off on the different legs of your journey, it'd be cool to have a little cavalcade of bikes and cars going through SL together :)

Musashi Motorsports Drive Around the (SL)World 2006, Leg 2, Part 1

It's that time of the week again, and as my mechanic do the last checks to the Zero GTX i can introduce you to my beautiful race queens of the day: Palomma Casanova and Dione Jacques. Beautiful, aren't they?

The Route for today's leg will be a little more complex than the last one: I'll start from Winyah and head north-west to the crossroads in Frontenac. There i'll have a quick S turn at the crossroads themselves before continuing north-west to the intersection in Honehoye. There i'll turn North-east and proceed to Ontario, where my route will bend eastwards to the goal in Huron.

As the time for start draws near, my charming race queens wish me good luck in front of a creepy but cute cemtery in Winyah.

As the starter gives the signal I step on the gas pedal hard, speeding down towards Hannequin.

As soon as i reach Frontenac i corner quickly trough the double intersection, as the Robo Studio crew films me for their documentary...
Our new sponsor Dominus Motor Company is now proudly displayed on the back of the GTX. Francis does the best cars, so it's an honor to have her virtually "on board".

Before exiting Frontenac i speed in front of a nice treehouse, looks like they've becom e quite the popular trend lately... LOTR influence?

Cobalt Motors in Pickerel shows off a nice selection of vintage cars and a great looking car station.

In Warmouth a great looking japanese style building overlooks the road, it's incredible how much this place changed since 2005.

Just before exiting Warmouth i spot a bus stop on the roadside, strange, i didn't meet any bus yet...

As i reach Athabasca i see something that looks like a broken jet engine on the side of the road... i wonder what is it for...

I shift down and turn left, with a little side drift at the intersection in Ontario, as the last part of the leg begins.

A very nicely built shop in Superior as i speed up towards the goal
as the last part of the leg begins.

At the end of Superior another nice build overlooks the road as i shift up for the last straight.

This summer is terribly hot, and this pool in Abitibi seems just the right thing to get a little of relief...

At last i reach the goal in Huron, this leg is done! Stay tuned for another one next friday

As my mechanics check the pressure of the tires of my Zero GTX, i prepare myself for another leg of my drive around then world of second life.

Today's race queen is the beautiful Katt Kongo (none other than the publisher of Metaverse Messenger), and she sure does justice to the Musashi Motorsports race qeen outfit as much as she does to her newspaper, a true jewel.

The course for the day is pretty simple: The start will be at the intersection in Ontario, that was already seen in the last leg: I'll drive west to trough Whinlatter bridge to the intersection in Mowry. From there i'll drive north-east all the way to the end of the road in Coniston.

It's almost time to start, in Ontario, as Katt wishes me good luck and sees me off. The engine is singing his roaring song already, and my heart is ready to syncrhonize with it.

And the time for departure comes, as i speed along the coastline in Ontario, leaving the start line behind...

As i reach Brawer i can't help but feeling better by noticing that someone DOES watch over our safety. This rescue station is really a beautiful build and a great idea.

in Yelas i run into a quite awesome looking ancient styled shop...

As i'm about to exit Yelas i spot a very nice treehouse, befitting the countryside environment.

I reduce my speed slightly on the the Whinlatter bridge, since i'll soon have to corner at the intersection, as a quite idilliac (if not for the skybox cluster in the background) waterside environment greets me. There's even a lighthouse!

After the crossroads in Mowry Bay i enter Scafell, where i drive down the road near a beautiful park...

Looks like i entered a commercial district cenetred around Netherback, lots of shops here...

A smoke shop? Now this is an original idea... I gear up, as the sexy lady painted on the windows tries to lure me into giving up my virtual lungs... such temptations are sure hard to resist...

As i enter Ravenglass the massiveness of a truck overshadows my small Zero, speeding in front of a nice motors shop

Musashi Motorsports Drive Around the (SL)World 2006, Leg 3, Part 4
08-06-2006 03:08
A massive floating castle adn a galleon greet me as i feel the wood of the Seascale Bridge gripping my tires... Memories come to mind. This is where the first Musashi Motorsports cars were born, when this cluster of sims was new and lag free...

I get a sight of the waterhead welcome area from the bridge in Borowdale...

Then i enter the welcome Area itself, for a quick pass, i always loved this build...

The Derwent Park is still as nice as i remember it from the first edition of the Drive Around the world...

And i finally cut the goal line, near a couple of massive castles in Coniston!

And even this leg is done. The lag was a bit bad, last time i drove there was when the sims were new and almost empty, but in the end it was a nice trip. I absolutely loved the rescue station in Brawer.. i'd like to see more "real life" builds like that... Anyway, stay tuned for next friday's leg!

(i apologize for posting this week's report late, but unfortunately personal reasons kinda screwed my schedule and held me back)

Musashi Motorsports Drive Around the (SL)World 2006, Leg 4
08-19-2006 01:20
After last week's hiatus, the time for the fourth leg has come. My mechanics are already checking the last settings, to make sure the car is perfectly in order after two weeks of inactivity.
Today's Race queen is Bianca, one of my cherished regular models, and an awesome pinky haired girl.

Today's route is pretty straightforward. I'll depart at Mowry's intersection and drive west, pass one of the sharpest turns in the whole grid, in Selby, then head southwards to the intersection in Bishop, and continue straight to the Isabel Info Hub.

Time for departure: Bianca is ready at the start in Mowry to see me off.

Start! I step on the gas pedal as i shift up on the road from the start trough Mowry, with a nice sailboat shop on the background.

As i cross Selby i find myself in a commercial district... might need to come back here later...

As i enter Mare i see people dancing in what seems a small roadside club, while i corner on a sharp bend in the road.

In Selby i cross another commercial district, as my tires skid on the ground due to more sharp cornering...

As i cross the bridge in Pierce i see a big skyscraper in the background against the night sky... driving in the dark can be dangerous, so i shift down and reduce my speed.

In Suisun i find a really nice vintage flying car parked on the roadside... It kind of reminds me of a movie i cannot remember...

As i corner at the intersection in Bishop, heading south, i can see an odd but quite cute shop in the background.

The view is really incredible as i speed down the road in Arena...

A really nice shop (with a quite original name) overlooks the road in lakeville.
