The south support column of the Nova Albion Infohub bridge (Sistiana) has an area where folks can leave graffiti...

Currently, any City Slicker group member can leave a semi-permanent image. The wall graffiti area is set to the group, so any images that are added are not affected by the hub area's auto-return. To add an image, edit the contents of the wall image area and add your texture to the Contents.

Scripting will be added soon to allow any person to Control-Drag an image to the wall area so that non-City Slickers can leave their mark on the city as well.

Nova Albion Infohub Graffiti Wall (Sistiana)
04-08-2006 20:01
I just updated the Sistiana Hub area graffiti wall display to allow anyone to Control-Drag a texture to it. There is a can of spray paint on the ground in front of the wall that gives a notecard with instructions on how to add a tag texture to the wall.

Played in ArtRage a bit.. Finally got something I thought would be acceptably cool for SL Graffiti. Random swirls, due to lack of painterly talents:

Do owners of property care, because it says ur name on there so is it bad to drop off our tag all over? Like will they bitch and moan to the admins, or will they just delete it?
Thanx

I been taggin places since I was born, mainly mega-malls and large buildings.
I'm guessing that its not really offensive to the owners unless you post mature content, or repeatedly tagging a certain area. It's really easy to return objects to people, and even some parcels are set to auto-return objects within a minute. I never tag the same place twice.

Here's some of mine. I have more, I have to dig them up. :)

I guess it depends on the landowner, some'll return of it because they don't like it, some won't. I can't imagine they'd report it unless you'd hacked it so the object centre's on one of their neighbour's property, in which case admin would probably return it but probably nothing else.

Up until recently I had some random stuff on my neighbour's wall:

Signature tag. I'll make up some big ones, and remember to tag each spot I do with my signature.

This has just gave me something to do in SL, something to 'live' for, as it were.

By the way, Awesome designs everyone.

This is a piece of street art inspired by the work of a French artist going by the name of Invader (http://www.space-invaders.com). These pieces are ceramic tile mosaics cemented in often suprising locations and generally resemble sprites from classic 70's/80's arcade games.

back when a friend and I moved to London for a few months, he noticed them and took pictures of them. Completely baffled, it was months later before he read the article explaining their existence. It's a great form of pop art that's both non-intrusive and a conversation starter.

I had to do this one. I found this somewhere under a broken bridge, the almighty Linden tag! So I tagged on top of it! Got returned 5 minutes later, oh well. At least I got the picture.
Yours truly on the left. :)

My tags!
05-23-2006 15:25
I've included 3 of the tags I've put up. The av in the last one is me. The first pic contains graffiti that was already there... mine's the center piece of work and is actually the first virtual graffiti I ever made. :) The second has a close-up so you can see the detail work I did on the t-shirt of the lil dude.

Montana Spraycan
05-11-2007 07:15
I had the luck to get the permission (and support) from Montana-Cans which are a famous bunch of really cool people. And I tried to build my cans with their image and spirit.

The stage is now in late beta but I decided to make them really expensive (for inside SL, outside that's more like having a good movie in cinema). Because I don't want spammers misuse that stuff, or if I can't to make them think twice about. Whatever, we ran a gridwide test yesterday and today and we got over 700 Tags, Graffitti and Posters out there now which seem to cause no trouble at all.

I have an article in german Der Spiegel forum about this. Sorry, all in german, but you shure will recognize AmyS and can follow the pictures I uploaded. The first part is readable, the second part is still waiting for post permission by Der Spiegel (harmless, must be some technical reasons).

This can is as sane and save as I can make it. It was ready two month ago and there are people in this forum who knew that I had it ready. I had to deal some security issues with that thing and worked a bit more on it. Now its nearly done, Montana will record some sounds for their spraycans this weekend and then I can sell that stuff.

I am thinking about bringing out a limited version of that can which has a more limited size of tags (yes, even the big one is a limited to sane sizes, no unsave tags possible), the rest should lie in the hands of the taggers, sprayers, artists.

The can is easy to use but really not easy to set up. So you'll need someone who teaches you. I will open a group for that, please make suggestions about that name. Mine are:

Spraying Artists of SL
Taggers of SL
BombSL
SL Street Art Group
...

I think that will be fun for everyone. One of the many save options is, that the tags will respect a NoTaggingSign on land which permits them to set. Protection against spamming is also done. To be true most of the work, about 90% was about making it save.
Now its ready for market, I think.

If you have suggestions for reduced cans with reduces price tell. I will make a marker soon which will give you a very small tag with even more limited time to stay on walls.

I hope Argent Stonecutter will help me selling that stuff cause I'm without shop or something like that. I will not take support for that can, cause that would be VERY time consuming and thats why it will only work with a community. New people need about 1-3 hours to understand the process. I personally set up a can in less than 5 mins.

No easier way possible, sorry. Its difficult stuff, difficult to set up new tags. But its more timeconsuming to make good graphic so this should be no problem.
