Lately I've been noticing that I've been using quite alot of SL snapshots for my desktop wallappers? Do you do the same too? For the longest time, I've been using the domokun wallpaper ..lol One of the first few times, I was in the Ivory Tower and then I thought, hey this angle looks interesting (snap) And before I knew it, it resided on my desktop. Then a couple week later, I went shopping and tried a few furniture. One of them was a bed, even avies need to sleep lol. But anyway, I saw a chair and lounged in it, and thought that the pose looked kinda good so I took a snapshot of that too. Then it became my desktop wallpaper. A few days ago, I was walking at the SLU Tower (what a great place! So many things to explore) I was at the SLU library level and it happened to be sunset. And so I set that as my background next. And this morning, I was exploring a friend's house. I found the garden to be so breathtaking and couldnt help snapping a picture - you guessed it! Its my new desktop wallie. So do you use SL snapshots as your wallpaper too?

I haven't used SL as my desktop. I usually have something I'm modeling as my desktop (bike, gun, broom, whatever.) Since I run dual monitors I can always refer to what I'm working on. Or the Wiki if I'm scripting I am rather tempted to make a collage with a couple of things for a comparison of the RL and SL versions... hmmm. (goes off to setup up some camera angles to match the reference pics) L8r, UU

I'm currently using this picture of my character as my wallpaper (attached)... there're a lot of little things I don't like about it, but overall it works. :D
(Oh yeah, I'm new here: this is my second day [strike]on the job[/strike] in-world, and I already know I'll be sticking around. ^^)

(Whoa, how come I'm showing up as a guest even though I'm logged in correctly? Is it because I'm still on a trial account?)

The one of Garth creating particles is my current desktop. Some of the other recent ones I have used is one of the yacht and the pic of Mrs Darling (me) and Wendy (Fey Brightwillow) in Olde London.

What's a good way to get your SL snapshots to your PC? The only way I know of is maximize the snapshot, then make a printscreen and edit that in PSP (or whatever).
But a printscreen doesnt look as good as a "save to disk" picture...

I apologize for the hypersnap logos, but I'm sure an adept person can shop those out pretty easily - I just don't have it on the computer I'm posting from. Using my fun wireframe thing, I took two shots of Gibson, one is skyward to their massive build, the other is a view of the city before it got torn down/repurposed. I just like the way the meshes pile up Enjoy.

But a printscreen doesnt look as good as a "save to disk" picture... Well, as you mentioned, when you take a snap you can use the 'save to disk picture' but if its too late, yoiu can open the snapshot in SL, and from the file menu use the 'save texture as' option. Of course, this only works on textures and photos you have the correct permissions on.

Am not sure riffey, I try print screen myself but it never seems to look as sharp as I'd like it to be. I try to make it shaper by these steps though (not too fond of photochop's Sharp feature) 1. Duplicate layer 2. Filter > Other > High pass (About 5 or so) 3. Overlay (softlight also works fine) Other than that I'm just as confused as the other guy Ohh that looks facinating maxx! How did you do that? So cool Olympia, what a cool website! Rythm and hues ... catchy name ... My goodness, what a facinating line of work you are in, you lucky woman you ... how does it feel to be working in film design and advertisment like that? Aww shucks thanks david! Well, I think you avie rocks - Such is the talent that comes from someone like you Anyhow, this is my current wallie at the moment ...just wanted to share ...Guess who's in it HEH HEH HEH ...

From: rinaz bijoux Ohh that looks facinating maxx! How did you do that? So cool Its this little helper/debug app that I found. Its designed to help check graphic capabilities under DirectX/OpenGL, so you can do some interesting things like remove all textures (I don't recall if this worked with SL) and do wireframe, like you see there. The only drawback is I still get the full model data - so if I'm in wireframe mode due to this app sitting between SL and my video card, I still have to download all the object data, including textures and other things that I'm not even rendering. Shame, 'cause it would really be neat to use it to minimize bandwidth, like say, scripting or something from a DSL-challenged location. I plan to do more photos, but it is a bit of a pain, since I can't read any of the menus and see any chat, due to the fact the letters are actually textures put on top of flat polys in the user interface. Doh. Glad you liked 'em.
