The Panda Z is the obviously the greatest thing ever to grace SL. I hestitate to think that it may concievably ever be outdone. I ... I am humble before it.

PANDA Z IS AWESOME!

It's even cooler if you own the toys.

Looks like SL is becoming a culture of technology. Cool, I likes.

yeah that's the Macross name for that design. In Robotech/Battletech/Mechwarrior they are Marauders :)

Hey I have 1 question I thought about after I left last night... can the weapons be made to be removeable/interchangeable? I was thinking of somehow swapping out the Large Laser with a SRM pack or somesuch... Thoughts???

For the most part, I make use of attachments to make my mecha move. Though your animation system is interesting, I think that attachments provide the most benefit at the moment. I feel that your system still requires more development before it can be easily applied to this matter.

Apparently everyone was inspired to reproduce the Marauder. I made my own version, which borrows the form of the legs but has a different overall design. Please see the attached images.

I'm not sure there's more I can do without backend changes, honestly. I'd be more than happy to set you up with how to get the script working effectively and easily, though, because I really don't have much trouble. Documentation, though... this is a different matter.

From what you were telling me in the other thread though, I'm fairly sure you rezzed two copies of the original object (don't). I'd be curious as to whether you finally got the script to work with your animations.

I'd also be interested in seeing how your mechs function. A little bird took me to your store the other day, and I did spy your hovering space station over the Goeuen (sp?) sandbox as well. Pretty crazy stuff. :)

Edit: And, because you asked Ardith, I put out the call for feedback here. I'll readily admit to not being perfect, so hopefully I'll be able to get things in order. ;)

Something about the Maruader doesn't look right. Maybe its because I have a miniature right infront of me... Good work -- great work in fact.. But my Battletech fandom can't get over this. D:

Also, could use some more textured textures to show off paneling and stuff.

The Madcat is a COMPLETELY different Mech. I happen to have a Madcat model in SL as well :)

http://www.heavygauss.com/HEAVY/madcat.html
http://www.heavygauss.com/HEAVY/marauder.html

The "Frenzy" (Marauder) is an avatar attachment, over 10m tall and walks when you walk. The only real difference is the nosepiece. All the guns, antennas and pods are there where they should be :)

Oh dont get me wrong I did make an error because I was at work I meant the 3500 series books that were late in the Clan wars.

If I am Not mistaken Natasha Kerensky of the Wolfs Dragoons Piloted either a Marauder or a Battle Master.

However, I do have several of the Aerotech Fighters already complete and looking at designs for Drop Ships.

Another one that would be good to bring out would be a Wasp or A Pheonix Hawk.

Jeff with your >bvh importer do you think there is a way we can get LL to have that be able to associate with Prims.

That would be revolutionary to be able to create a .bvh file with large enough offsets to apply to a Large Mechinoid.

Think of it like Poser using basic shapes to build a Skeletal hiarchy that could use animation files to animate prims.

Considering the current tool set if we had that ability in SL we could actually make walking mechs without the obstruction of the physics engine.

Shadow.

Kage, are you refering to the ones that use the avatar and offsets to create the mechinoid movement?

If so I am refering to utilising a combination of independent code that would result in larger mecka than the ones I have seen so far.

Imagine a true 30-40 meter Tall Mech using .bvh animations to simulate walking/firing and other aspects via either remote control or actually being "Piloted"

Artillo is now the proud owner of an extremely limited edition Marauder; seems selling fanwork mecha is a breach of copyright, so I'm pulling it off the shelf. There are only 4 in circulation. =) From here on out, original stuff only.

Yep! These mecha are attachment-based and so are nonphysical.

Bigger mecha! Sweet! We'll have to work carefully to minimize the control difficulties involved in scaling oneself up so big. It WILL be cool; I think I've squeezed as much height out of anim offsets as I know how to.
