Sure thing PetGirl! It's called, the Lindens need more server power to host the incoming members, but they aren't increasing the server power...so they have to cut rendering. The immersion is wonderful! Isn't it?

Can Torley maybe answer this or any other Linden?? There was a big change with 1.9 where the geometry is not rendered anymore. It's as if they turned the "culling" way up for everyone. The Lindens wont tell you this, and they haven't answered or commented on any posts about it either, but people are definitely noticing. What with that and the fact that you are invisible when you start and your home point keeps changing, they shoudl have re-titled this release: "SL 1.9 - Ruining the Immersion."

It's the result of a rip in the fabric of spacetime and so what you are actually seeing is the build in some alternate - but closely related - universe where only a fraction of the prims are there.
Or what Lizbeth said; it's kinda hard to tell, times being what they are.

That "culling" doesn't seem to have come about in 1.9--I remember similar effects further back in 1.7, as previous posts of mine have observed. I've made suggestions and showed feedback to more Lindens about this. Basically, objects that should not be chopped off so closely do. The workarounds currently include linking the prims to bigger objects (so they are part of larger linksets) or making the prims Light material--both of which are clunky in various circumstances. What's the coordinates of that location, Tina? I'd like to see it inworld for myself please.

Very nice location, Tina! I went and had a look... same draw distance as you, 160 m. Now, Casteel Verloren is VERY BIG. I did notice that one side of it clipped off similarly to what you describe when I was on the other edge of the island. But, I increased draw distance to 256 m and it appeared fine--the bigger prims, anyhoo. The "prim culling" I am referring to is easy to reproduce. Rez a plywood cube, 0.500 m in all dimensions, and then slowly walk away from it. Notice when it disappears--it doesn't matter what your draw distance is. It will suddenly vanish, and increasing draw distance will not make it better. Also, I have a better example here:

When great friends get together--gosh, I remember when Versu was giving me a tour through the castle! What a treat that was. Yes... in this instance, it seems 256 is necessary to see the FULL way because a region is 256 m across each dimension. I keep my draw distance at 160 m too.
