Hi,

I have a Poser 4 animation I've been working on at in part of it the character spins. This looks find in Poser but when I import it into SL the spin is not there at all. Does anybody know what could be causing this? The rest of the animation is fine, by my AV just doesn't want to spin.

Try doing the spin a few steps with keyframe's instead of all at once. I noticed the same thing going from 0 degrees then all the way back to zero degree's Also move a limb or two a bit in the process.

I'm actually doing both these things already - I have two steps in my spin and in both parts other parts are moving as well.

are you spinning on the hip? or the whole body?

Could be that Sl doesn't recoginize the rotation on the whole body. Try doing the spin at the hip axis.

I was spinning the body, changed it to spin from the hip and it does spin now but, like Karma says, the head stays still. I'll work on that now, i suppose by spinning the neck?

Oh no, spinning the neck does so not look comfortable. LOL. Onto spinning the head now instead :D

Got it! For those that are interested this is the 'I don't move between first and second frame, so I'm going to be a really low priority' joint thing that Archanox Underthorn points out here: /52/5b/18121/1.html

I just moved both the neck and head a tiny fraction in the second frame and voila! it works like a dream now in SL :D

Glad I could help^^
Btw as you suspect, SL does not recognize full-body rotations(the "Body" body part). If you're looking to spin your character and not have any joints move here's a little workaround:

-Go under Figure-Inverse Kinematics and uncheck both of the legs

-Twist your hips to spin

-Make sure to put IK back on for the legs or its gonna act weird :)

I would suggest saving before trying to do this, it has a tendancy to add extra keyframes. I haven't had it change the animation yet, but Poser is tempermental, you know that ;)

Thought I'd peer in ;) I actually have done lots of this because I wanted to do backflips and such. The most important thing to note about Arachanox's comment is turning off the Kinematics. Now if you want to make a triple spin for example, think rotational values. The final value would need to be 1080 degrees on the waist because of how Poser works.

If you have your initial frame as your "standard" SL pose (arms out), then create a key frame 10 frames later. In this key frame turn off the Kinematics, select the waist, then type in 1080 in the TWIST number box next to the slider... voila! A triple spin =) (360 times 3 ;)) The hardest part of this to remember is that you want it to animate from point A to point B. However when you use Pose dots or parts from your library, EVERY instance is identical. So you would be animating from point A to point A. That's why reverse movements sometimes occur.

Jesus am I rambling, I hope that made some sense and wasn't just stupid lol
