I get the error "Can't get rotational values" when I try to import my animation. Any idea why?

Also, is poser not the worst animation tool you have ever used? It has this tendancy to add all kinds of invisible keyframes without my asking, and it is a big pain.

Nanashi, check this thread.

And yes. :D But if you use "Linear" not "Spline" interpolations between keyframes, it's not quite as bad. :D

Nanashi,

This can happen for several different reasons. First of all, whether it is Poser 4, 5 or 6, you should be using either the SL Poser figures (which you can download from http://secondlife.com/downloads/avatar.php . Alternatively, you can use the Poser 2 figures that are included in the library in Poser. More complex figures will sometimes work, but the results are unpredictable and you often get that error message.

Also, make sure your first frame is set to the standard T pose. You can get the figure back to this pose by going to Edit-->Restore--->Figure. Note that if you are using Poser 6 and you change from a Poser 6 figure to the SL avatar, it will not be in the correct T pose and you need to restore it.

Finally, if you are using Poser 6, make sure you download the service release for it from the Poser web site. Without the service release, Poser 6 exports do not work with SL without extra work.

Ok.. I got Poser 6, did my 1st animation, and proudly try to load it in SL.. well.. of course I got the rotattion error message.

Now what? What should I do to load it to SL ? I went to e-frontier.com, and couldn't find the 'service release'. What 'extra' work shold I do ?

Thanks for helping a newbie.. :)

Welcome to SL, Samuel. :)

You got a Poser 6.
Did you install Service Release 1? You can downloard it from Updates & Documentations.
Did you download and set up SL Avatar which Cristiano mentioned and linked?
Did you make sure your animation's first frame was set to the default T Pose which Cristiano mentioned?
And you should see and follow Ulrika's tutorial. Though she uses Poser 5 and doesn't use SL Avatar, it is the same.

For the money, I've found Poser to be the "best" for dealing with the human form. It's been around quiet a bit longer than SL and when used in teh "context" it was intended works quiet well :)

But... SL may qualify as the "worst" animation tool I've seen... LOL!
