At it again, hopefully to stick around for a while :p

OKey dookey, here's the dilly, looking for good ideas for poses and animations.

Trying to help chip away at the void. So what I'm looking at is good ideas that will encompass a nice set of Animation Overides and AO additions.

One pose like "uhh, a finger in the butt" doesn't quite help.

Thinking of the stuff that would be of intrest to the largest amount of people, (this is not only economics but cause I can be kinda lazy so the more you can hit with one set the better ;) ).

Catch Number 2:

If you have a good idea, and especially some reference images and the like, and I chose to utilize your idea, YOU will get the entire set for FREE!!!

How's that for a way to get a hold of some custom goodies?!?! ;P

I've started with Fashion Modeling Poses and have 30 Female Fashion Poses in one vendor, another with Marijke Fashion Model Poses from an RL model's shoot, and started the Revolver I Poses (these are "inspired" by the Revolver Clothing Series by Nephilaine Protagonist available at Pixel Dolls, mostly double gun blazing poses :D )

If you haven't had the opportunity to see some of the poses feel free to drop by and give 'em a spin.

Looking forward to some good ideas ;)

5ifth Order Vendor Locations:

Pixel Dolls[/B ] (1st floor), Chartruese (225,107) and
Scarlett, Chartreuse (109, 31)

Probably a limited market, but I've always thought a "zombie AO" would be neat. Or, better yet, mimic Sadako/Samara's boneless movement style from the Ring films.

Guess everyone's got all the pose and animation they need?!

I like that one Aliasi, gotta love the Hor-Fi and stuff like that.

I'm thinking of doing some comic/video games/dynamic action stuff but not sure of the interest level.

I've got a few Model Fashion Pose types going, not sure when this hits a ceiling? Got @ 50 different females and working the males but I have no idea if people want more or is it "how many different ways can you stand?" type thing :p I've got enough model references to bang out @ 100 more different model poses, but ya know?

Marvel comics cat from way back, I'll probably do some comic poses anyway just cause I think it's cool and it's hella fun to do.

Anyhow, realize it's the holidays, wishing everyone a safe and happy one, and we'll see what pops up here come early next year, lol, yeah a week away but it always sounds funny to me :D

I'd be interested in:

-action poses: mid-punch, kick, etc.
-rolls. Where instead of a walking/running animation, your avatar goes into a roll in whatever direction, possibly even one sideways, and then pops up on its feet to stop moving. Martial Arts-y.
-a walk, run, and stand, where it looks like your avatar is carrying a very heavy backpack - bent forward. Should lurch with each step, collapse to sit down, etc. This one could become a full AO, but I'm not sure how popular it would be. It's just that I had this idea for an avatar carrying a battleaxe or other weapon that appeared much too large for her on her back, and then considered the need for animations if so.
-Radical Edward AO (from Cowboy Bebop). Very goofy, large steps, sometimes does an airplane run - you know, pretending to be one. Goofy little hops, wiggly arm motions, salutes, etc. Very very rubbery - I don't know how doable that is. I mean, her arms bend in arcs, rather than at joints, at least sometimes. She can't fly, but she'd either do it like an airplane or Superman, I bet. Probably a limited market, unless you mainly call it a goofy kid AO or something, in which case it'd be at least a bit bigger.

The first two I could definitely see being popular, but I'm not so sure about the others.

I'm always looking at animations - trying to find useful and interesting things.
What about - (just making them up as I go)

An anim that just has the avatar's mouth move like it is speaking?
An avatar sits reading a book, then looks up and mouths, "What?"
An avatar is telling a story.
Groucho's walk
Swaying back and forth while holding a candle (or a lighter) up
A conga line anim
Sumo wrestling
Spinning on a bar stool
Hopscotch
Drowning
Sneezing
Painting at an easel (an artist)
Shivering/teeth chattering
Drunk test - walk the white line etc
Psychiatrist
Gardening - weeding, planting

Jonny, I am really feeling your passion, and am glad you're rolling on with this. You're like an animation preacher, ministering to the stiff masses and getting their booties shaking, hallelujah! Lots of great ideas here.

Here's one I haven't seen yet in SL:

Two-frame, classic video game-stylee walk. Like those 8-bit sprites when you march them through a flat landscape.

Retro fever is hot, this could be in a pack of other classic stutter&glitch anims. We don't have enough of those. :)

Ooh.. someone needs an idea for a whole AO set? I vote for a complete set of one-handed fencing/rapier animations! Useable ones for scripted swords, like: advance, lunge, parry, en garde, maybe some flourishes and slashes, and some sideways movement for the non-linear types. I could go on for several minutes listing fencing animations I want!

I'm done now.

I'm really interested in a Geisha/Japanese woman AO, something sort of humble. (sorry I haven't done my research). Certain stances (posed or animated) that can work with fans and bows would be nice too. Just an idea. :)

Ah, I finally got the chance to look around and found some references to what I'm talking about...

Hope it helps :)

For a complete AO set, I've said this before many times (and heard it from many many more), there needs to be sets that are just the normal subtle "fidgets" that people do when they are standing or sitting.

The only person I have seen that really "gets" this is Craig Altman with some of his sitting poses.

There are to my knowledge (cause I go out and scour the land periodically for just this), only two AO sets that advertise such subtle casual poses, and in my humble opinion they don't really do it. I won't name names because this is a totally subjective thing, but the casual sets that are out there are mostly full of strange "attitude" poses that probably look really good on the folks with that attitude, but make most of us look like poseurs.

So, subtle RL poses would be good. (and all those great ideas of Osprey's) :)

Continuing with this idea - some new Japanese style walks would be nice for when you are wearing certain clothing. It looks weird when you are taking these huge sexy strides in a kimono.

And similar to Ospey idea, how about where it looks like you are talking and gesturing with your hands for those of us that just can't keep still while we are talking.

I'd like to be able to have a Peace Sign anim, but I don't know if it's been done or even possible.

Definitely there is a need for more hand to hand combat animations, swords, rapiers, two-handed axe/sword, spear throwing, bow firing.. stuff like that. I know of a few weapon makers and bunches of users that would love such.

and for something completely different.. I would love to see a sort of over-gestured almost mime like set... think even a bit of Buster Keaton or Charlie Chaplin. Maybe that one is a bit more odd quirk.. ;)

The peace sign can be added to ANY animation already made, prior to upload. Dont let anyone charge you for it. Its an option you get when uplodaing your animation.

Only the right hand can have the peace sign though.

Interesting idea for an animation set: 36 poses in which the avatar forms the letters A through Z and the numbers 0 through 9.

Another idea: a set of animal movement animations. I know that animations exist for some of the custom animal avatars out there, but it would be neat to have a collection of animations such as snake undulation, playful dog, stalking cat, gallop/canter/trot for a horse, lumbering elephant, buzzing and swooping dragonfly, hopping frog...you get the idea.

One more idea: there are many types of people in the real world, and they all move and walk in a characteristic way. How about an animation set called "Walks of Life" or something, in which we have animations for old people, old people with a walker, a confident businessman or business woman, a staggering drunk, a sidling fussy fidgety sort of person, a gangly teenager trying to act cool, a hyperactive toddler, a slouching gangster, a blind person with a cane or a guide dog, a paranoid person scurrying and checking over their shoulder, and so on.

I'd like to be able to have a Peace Sign anim, but I don't know if it's been done or even possible.

1. Down load Avatar Animations and extract it.
2. Upload "avatar_peace.bvh" by Upload Animation in world.
---on the uploading window---
3. Set "Priority" "4" (recommend).
4. Select "Hand Pose" "Peace Right" (must).
5. Select "Expression" "Smile" (option).
6. Try play button to see how it works. But note that hand pose animation is glitchy. So even though you saw just flat of its hand, don't worry. :p
7. Press Upload (L$10) button and pay L$10 to get your own animation.

The End.

Although this thread is interesting as what kind of animations expected, it was started for AO animations, wasn't it?
I guess AO means Animation Overides built-in animations, that is they would be played when you did something, such as standing, walking, sitting, and so on. The triggers have their limits. You all need to consider replacing.
Here is a list of AO from Ziggy's HUD one.

Abraminations has the avatars-forming-letters set. Maybe numbers, too - I don't know.

It'd be cool to see this for different occasions, for valentines lots of romantic poses and animations, and for summer lots of swimming and sunbathing, for winter maybe shivering and huddling up..

Yes, Yes, ya'll!!!

Outstanding ideas you lovely folks!!!

I'm currently in a pose crunch, trying to get a few hundred out in short order.

Before I get started I'd like to thank everyone for thier participation. And...

A reminder this is open to ALL, animators come get some ideas and get to work!!!

We "animate" any"thing" "on SL" property,
And we damn good too!
But you can't be any geek off the street,
Gotta be handy with the "keyframes"
If you know what I mean, earn your keep
Animators! Mount up!

Gerami:
-Fencing would be great, but this stears toward custom, lots of work and don't know too many fencers.

Arbel:
Little do you know you've hit the nail on the head!!!
In the works on a Feudal Japan theme, yes with Geisha, Takomachi the whole nine, including the Tea Ceramony!!! I'll hook you up when this comes up, aiming for mid summer, this ones a huge endeavor, myself and a few others.

Well if your still with me, and your eyebals aren't rollin off your keyboard, again wanna thank everyone, and would love to see some animators come on in and jump on some of this. Hmmm think there might be enough for everyone?

And I apologize that I can't get em all in there, "a man may be greater then the sum of his parts, yet that sum still only equals one man" :D

How about a set of Monty Python- inspired Silly Walks?

Or, how about a Quest For Fire/Clan of the Cave Bear type AO set for prehistoric humans? The walks & runs would be less upright, the stands could include all sorts of alternatives like crouching, hunting/weapon holding stances, etc. Package it with a set of body paint (made as underwear layers) for extra fun. :)

I'd like to see some Flying Animations based on Superman.

While flying both arms would be straight out and the hands in fists.
For landing the right knee is slightly bent backward (the regular landing has the left knee bent the way the right should be but instead of the arms all bent have them out to the sides and without the AV looking down).

For hovering just have the arms crossed and the toes pointing down.

Take off would be the same as it is now just with the arms straight up in the air.

If you need pics for reference I could supply some for you
