They arent going to listen... LL never does... at least not to us. Its kindof absurd really... we are the ones who pay LL for the service. We are the ones who enable them to be in existence... yet we are the ones they almost always ignore.
Whether its about the right to roleplay how we choose to, begging for them to fix the numerous problems with the grid, or asking them to implement (or not to implement) new features and changes... they are set on their own path.
Why? Here is what I think. LL is clearly going after new membership by adding features and services they think will attract more mainstream users to SecondLife. Voice and the windlight features are just the latest of them. So, if they are looking to attract more of the mainstream population... they have to make SL a place that will be less offensive to those potential users and large corporations. In their eyes, that is where the money is.
I also think that this "clean-up" is the beginning of them making SL look better for sale. No one is going to buy out LL with the way things are now... at least no mainstream company. But, if they can show that there are restrictions on what you can and cannot do here, restraints on who can view what type of material, or participate in which types of activity... along with passively forcing out those the mainstream would see as "deviants", it starts to look like a pretty good package. Lets face it, the owners of LL stand to make more money by selling out than they do by continuing to run SL. Then they can move on to something else.
I am sure there will be those who dont agree with my thoughts here, and thats fine. Im not stating fact, Im just stating how I feel, and how things look to me.
In my opinion, the SL we all know now, isn't going to be around much longer.

Not really feeling betrayed but am feeling suckered by the OP, Shai. There's a ton of other threads on ageplay. If you absolutely must have yet another one on how good it is to look at little kids getting raped, as long as they're not real kids, knock yourself out but put a frickin title on the thread so those of us who are sick of these damn things know to ignore it. Lyn, In my opinion, the SL we all know now, isn't going to be around much longer. Its already slipping away as we speak. If you think this is it, you are going to be in for a rude awakening. LL has started down the slippery slope , encouraging people to 'report" anything they find offensive so that it can be banned, the property confiscated without so much as an investigation into the matter if I read it right. Every one has their pet peeve; be it ageplay, furries, Gor, prostitution (ie escorts and such) and now they have the green light to report such offensive behavior (no, they are being -encouraged- to do so actually) The SL where one could come to live out their fantasies is a thing of the past. May it rest in peace. |

The futility of the current situation involving Linden Lab's inability to grow a pair...has led to much outrage from our community. All we ask is that someone be reading these posts...someone to finally say "This has got to stop, we have the responsibility of at least making things clear for people. Or if nothing else to please a larger majority of our audience." I understand that Linden Lab feels it has responsibilities to adhere to the laws of RL as well, and that some might be morally outraged by the content within SL but how can they ignore us for this long? I wonder how its possible for a company to ignore its duties to the people that have been the backbone of its existence for this extensive amount of time. I know you've all heard this a million times, and probably dont agree with all of it. It just seems that no matter how much we do this, no matter what peaceful actions we take to try to change the tides of this uphill battle, LL refuses to hear us. My personal frustration is endless as I'm sure are all of yours...I dont support ageplay...but I support each induvidual's rights to choose their lifestyles. Sorry for ranting...its just been pent up for a while... |

What about the person who stalked me for weeks wanting me to have sex with him? He is still on SL and I had friends Mac banned because they wrote a script that had an error in it and ended up crashing a sim by mistake... were is the justice in that? Im really mad about this because some one who broke the TOS on perpus is still on SL but my freinds who didn't mean to crash a sim get banned
